What story threads carry into the season?
Peacock’s Season 11 recap described several unresolved situations ahead of the premiere: Severide had left his squad and marriage to pursue other interests; Stella had attended an elite Office of Fire Investigation (OFI) training camp in hopes of reconnecting with him; Brett was weighing Matt Casey’s proposal after being cleared to adopt Amber’s baby; and Mouch had been shot by a stray bullet in the finale. Peacock’s preview said Brett would give Casey her answer in the Season 12 premiere. These are the setup points identified in that preview, not a full-season plot synopsis.
Is Season 12 still the current season?
No. In an October 1, 2026 schedule announcement, NBCUniversal listed Chicago Fire as Season 15 in the current One Chicago lineup. Season 12’s January 2024 premiere is therefore a historical release date.
