The report says he will appear in a handful of early-season episodes to wrap up Cruz’s story, but it does not identify his final episode or reveal what happens to the character.
Who is leaving Chicago Fire?
Current coverage points to Miñoso as the fan favorite behind the headline. He has played Joe Cruz, a firefighter at Firehouse 51. The July 29, 2026 report describes Miñoso as expected to return for a handful of Season 15 episodes before his character’s arc concludes. That wording indicates a reported departure, not a confirmed NBC announcement; the report says NBC had no comment when contacted.

What happens to Joe Cruz?
The report does not say. It gives no final episode, on-screen explanation, or outcome for Cruz. There is no basis in the available coverage to say that he dies, retires, transfers, or leaves Chicago. Those details remain unknown until an episode or a more direct statement establishes them.
Is another cast member leaving in Season 15?
Yes. Dermot Mulroney is also reported to be leaving, in a separate storyline. Mulroney plays Battalion Chief Dom Pascal, whose story is reported to conclude early in Season 15. That is distinct from Miñoso’s reported departure and Cruz’s character arc.

Why Sam Carver’s earlier storyline is different
Older coverage about Sam Carver concerns Season 13, not the reported Season 15 exits. A February 27, 2025 recap said Carver took time away from Firehouse 51 in Season 13, Episode 14, with the episode implying his post would be waiting. A separate April 17, 2025 article discussed speculation about a possible exit while explicitly saying it was unconfirmed. Neither report identifies Carver as the Season 15 departure.
