Chhorii 2 is worth considering if you value horror craft and performances, but its scares may not land consistently. What is Chhorii 2 about?
Released on 11 April 2025, Chhorii 2 follows Sakshi as she tries to save her seven-year-old daughter, Ishani, after an underground cult abducts her. The film’s platform synopsis also points to a supernatural threat and a high priestess. Nushrratt Bharuccha, Soha Ali Khan and Gashmeer Mahajani are among the cast. Prime Video’s listing classifies the film as drama and horror; Bollywood Hungama gives the release date.
How well do the craft and performances work?
The strongest case for the film is its atmosphere. In her 11 April 2025 review, Udita Jhunjhunwala of Scroll.in praised its production, including the dungeon, lighting, camerawork and eerie music: “Where the filmmaking scores is in the production: a dungeon that is a maze of horrors, the lighting and camerawork, the eerie music that sets the mood.” That assessment makes the film’s setting and mood central to its appeal, rather than suggesting that every scare works equally well.
Performance praise is not the same as a strong screenplay. Scroll.in’s favorable craft assessment sits alongside Bollywood Hungama’s criticism of the script, despite its acknowledgment of fine performances. The film may therefore appeal more to viewers drawn by its cast and visual atmosphere than to those who need a tightly praised story.

Is Chhorii 2 scary, or does its message get in the way?
That is where the published reaction divides. India Today argues that the film’s effort to address social evils gets in the way of its job as a horror thriller: frightening and entertaining viewers. Scroll.in, by contrast, emphasizes the effectiveness of its production atmosphere and performances. The disagreement suggests a trade-off: viewers receptive to horror with social concerns may find the ambition worthwhile, while those seeking sustained, straightforward scares may find the message material interrupts the momentum.
The critical snapshot is mixed rather than unanimous. Rotten Tomatoes lists seven critic reviews and displays excerpts ranging from Scroll.in’s production praise to a sharply negative assessment from OTTplay. Those excerpts show different responses; they are not a consensus score.
