Cheryl Hines celebrated her 59th birthday in Milan on September 21, 2024, attending Milan Fashion Week events with her daughter, Catherine, and stepdaughter, Kyra. The outing came two days after New York magazine disclosed that correspondent Olivia Nuzzi had acknowledged a personal relationship with a former reporting subject relevant to the 2024 campaign. The magazine did not name that person; the Associated Press reported that Nuzzi had not confirmed Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s involvement, and Kennedy’s representative said he had met her once for an interview.
What Cheryl Hines did in Milan for her birthday
Hines turned 59 on September 21, 2024. Contemporary coverage placed her in Milan during Fashion Week with her daughter, Catherine, and stepdaughter, Kyra. Reports described Hines attending shows and supporting Kyra at Gucci. The Independent and the Portland Press Herald reported on the outing.

What New York magazine disclosed—and what it did not
On September 19, New York magazine published a note saying its Washington correspondent, Olivia Nuzzi, had acknowledged a personal relationship with a former subject relevant to the 2024 campaign while reporting on it. The magazine also said an internal review of Nuzzi’s published work found “no inaccuracies nor evidence of bias.” It said she was on leave and that a third-party review was planned. Those were the magazine’s stated findings and next steps; they do not identify the person involved.
What Nuzzi and Kennedy’s representative said
The Associated Press reported that Nuzzi had not confirmed Kennedy was the former subject. In a statement quoted by AP, Nuzzi said the relationship “was never physical but should have been disclosed to prevent the appearance of a conflict.” Kennedy’s representative, also quoted by AP, said Kennedy had met Nuzzi once, for an interview she requested.
