Why was Cox surprised by the response?
In a GamesRadar interview ahead of the 2026 BAFTA Game Awards, Cox said he had been “completely ignorant” of the passion fans would have for Gustave. He explained that it had not occurred to him that a character in a video game could move people as strongly as a character created for television or film. “It didn’t occur to me that people could feel as strongly about a character generated for a computer game as they could for a character that appears in a television or movie that you’ve created,” he said.
His surprise was about the emotional connection and fan response—not about how much of the game he had recorded, and not a claim that his performance alone drove the game’s reception. Cox also described meeting a newer group of fans interested in games and game characters, alongside people who know his film and television work.

How long did Charlie Cox record for the game?
At Washington State Summer Con, Cox said his agent asked whether he wanted to do a voiceover and that he spent about four hours in the studio. “My agent asked me if I wanted to do a voiceover. I was in the studio for four hours maybe,” he told GamesRadar, which reported the remarks on June 23, 2025.
That is Cox’s estimate of his own studio time. It does not establish his full time commitment to the project or how long other cast members and production staff worked.

What did the role mean for Cox’s work?
Cox said the experience introduced him to a game-focused audience and opened a new professional avenue. In a March 18, 2026, report by PC Gamer, he said he expected to work on another game later that year, one that would involve more work for him. That was a future-tense statement made in March 2026; it does not confirm the game’s title, present status, or a completed or released credit.

In the GamesRadar interview, Cox estimated that, until recently, “95%” of the people who met him at Comic Cons wanted to meet him because of his involvement with Daredevil. This was his personal estimate based on convention encounters, not a survey or measurement of his overall audience. His point was that he had begun noticing fans approaching him through his work in games as well as through television and film.
