Channel 7 personality Adrian Barich hosted the launch of the 2025 Mandurah Crab Fest at Boundary Island Brewery on February 6, 2025. Rick Ardon and Susannah Carr also featured in the festival’s official cooking-stage program, with a joint appearance scheduled for March 15.
What happened at the launch?
PerthNow’s Mandurah Times report says Barich hosted the launch at Boundary Island Brewery on Thursday, February 6. During a crab-preparation demonstration, Damien Bell—identified in the report as WA Fishing Industry Council president and a local crab expert—showed Rick Ardon and Mandurah Mayor Caroline Knight how to break down a crab, then invited guests to try peeling one. The launch also involved cooking demonstrations. Susannah Carr prepared chilli mussels with Pete Bellini, a personality from My Kitchen Rules 2024. Barich and Knight joined Red Manna owner Jason Hutchen to cook sambuca prawns.
When did the festival take place?
The launch was a February event; the festival itself followed on March 15–16, 2025. The City of Mandurah’s official program listed Rick Ardon and Susannah Carr as 7 News presenters and scheduled them together on the cooking stage at 5 pm on Saturday, March 15. Mayor Caroline Knight’s welcome in the program described Crab Fest as “a chance for everyone to celebrate the best of the Mandurah lifestyle – a city woven by stunning waterways and natural environment – including our famous blue swimmer crab.” The program also highlighted free entertainment and activities, including music, cooking demonstrations, and activities on and off the water.
What does the attendance figure refer to?
The City’s 2024–25 event partnership overview describes Crab Fest as attracting over 100,000 attendees over the event weekend. That is a City-provided event estimate, not a count of people at the February launch or a separately verified result. The reviewed sources provide no launch-specific attendance figure. Is the 2025 event still upcoming?
