These accounts are not a diagnostic guide, and they do not establish a shared exposure or a single course of illness.
Justin Timberlake disclosed his diagnosis in 2025
On July 31, 2025, Timberlake said in an Instagram post that he had been diagnosed with Lyme disease. The Guardian quoted him: “I’ve been battling some health issues, and was diagnosed with Lyme disease – which I don’t say so you feel bad for me – but to shed some light on what I’ve been up against behind the scenes.” The Guardian’s report describes the post as coming at the conclusion of his tour.
Timberlake said he experienced nerve pain, fatigue and sickness while onstage, and that he had considered stopping the tour. He wrote that “living with this can be relentlessly debilitating, both mentally and physically.” He also explained why he continued: “I decided the joy that performing brings me far outweighs the fleeting stress my body was feeling. I’m so glad I kept going.” His public statement did not give details of a treatment regimen.
What has Bella Hadid said about Lyme disease?
Bella Hadid’s health history in the sources cited here comes from a reported Vogue profile, not a direct public statement by Hadid about each symptom. Vogue’s April 2022 profile said she had experienced a range of physical and psychiatric symptoms beginning in eighth grade, some of which may have emanated from Lyme disease. It also reported a babesiosis diagnosis. The profile’s wording is cautious: it does not establish that Lyme disease caused every symptom described.

The profile discusses therapies Hadid received during adolescence, including approaches it characterizes as unproven or adjunctive. That account is not evidence that ultraviolet blood irradiation, ozone therapy or hyperbaric oxygen treats Lyme disease. Read Vogue’s 2022 profile of Hadid.
Yolanda Hadid described her own symptoms in an interview
In a first-person Vogue interview published February 13, 2021, Yolanda Hadid described severe fatigue, brain fog, memory and word-retrieval problems, anxiety, insomnia, migraines and joint pain. She said her children grew up on a farm in Santa Barbara, but the family never knew for sure where they contracted the disease. Her account should not be taken as evidence of a particular source of infection or as a direct account of Bella’s symptoms.
Hadid framed disclosure as a way to raise awareness: “We have to turn our mess into a message. By sharing the uncomfortable parts of our lives, we have the power to raise awareness.” Vogue’s interview uses the phrase “chronic Lyme disease” in describing her account; that wording here reflects her account, not a settled clinical diagnosis. Other celebrities who have discussed Lyme disease
Public reporting has also named musicians Avril Lavigne, Justin Bieber and Shania Twain as people who have discussed Lyme disease. A Good Morning America report additionally names comedian Amy Schumer and tennis player Alexis Ohanian. These are examples from media reports, not an exhaustive list, and the sources cited here do not establish the details of each person’s diagnosis or symptoms.

What these accounts can—and cannot—tell you
Lyme disease is transmitted by ticks. In general guidance reported by Good Morning America, untreated Lyme disease can affect the joints, heart and nervous system, and most cases can be treated with antibiotics. That general information is not a description of any celebrity’s treatment or outcome. Symptoms vary, and an individual story cannot tell someone whether they have Lyme disease.
The Associated Press reported in July 2025 that the CDC estimates 476,000 people are treated for Lyme disease in the United States each year. AP said the estimate is based on insurance records and that the exact frequency is unclear; it is not a count of confirmed infections. Read the AP report.
For public-health context, see Good Morning America’s report, which relays CDC prevention guidance. None of the accounts above indicates that celebrities are more likely than others to contract Lyme disease or that they shared an exposure.
