Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →If YouTube interrupts a Castr livestream over a devotional song, first identify whether it stopped the live broadcast, claimed the archived video afterward, or issued a copyright strike. Those are different events, and having a licence does not necessarily prevent a live interruption: the rights owner may also need to add your channel to YouTube’s Content ID allowlist. Castr carries the stream; it does not clear music rights.
Why did YouTube interrupt the livestream?
YouTube scans all live streams for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted material. If it detects a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder image and warn you to stop using the content. If the material continues, YouTube may interrupt or terminate the broadcast. Check the notice and YouTube Studio to see what action was taken and what material was matched. YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance also advises checking Studio for copyright strikes if a stream stops.
A devotional or worship setting does not by itself establish permission to stream a song. Castr’s church-streaming guidance says copyrighted worship music generally requires a streaming licence, and advises confirming coverage with the licensing provider. Castr’s church live-streaming guidance puts its role plainly: “Castr delivers the stream but does not clear music rights.”
First distinguish the three possible events
| Event | What it means | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Live interruption | YouTube detected third-party content during the broadcast and may have interrupted or terminated the stream. | Review the live-stream notice in YouTube Studio and identify the matched material. |
| Content ID claim on the replay | A claim may be applied after a live stream ends if you archive it. This is a post-stream event, not the same as a live interruption. | Review the archived video’s claim details and the matched material. |
| Copyright strike | A separate copyright action; it should not be treated as interchangeable with a live interruption or a Content ID claim. | Check Studio for the strike notice and follow the process described there. |
YouTube explains that archived live streams can receive Content ID claims after the broadcast ends, and that a Content ID match can result in a claim. YouTube’s Content ID explanation describes the matching system; its live-stream guidance covers live detection and archived-stream claims.

What to check, in order
- Read the exact YouTube notice. In YouTube Studio, establish whether the event was a live interruption, a claim on an archived video, or a strike. Note the matched content and any instructions. Do not assume that one kind of notice means another.
- Identify the precise audio used. Record the song title and version, and whether the stream used a live performance, a commercial recording, a backing track, or another embedded recording. Permission for one version or type of use does not automatically establish permission for another.
- Ask the licensing provider about the actual use. Verify that permission covers the particular song and use for online live streaming, the relevant territory, and an archived replay if you keep one. Castr’s general guidance does not establish the terms, territory, or song catalogue of any particular licence. A provider such as CCLI may be relevant for worship music; confirm the specific coverage directly with the provider.
- Confirm Content ID allowlisting. For licensed third-party content, YouTube says the rights owner should add the channel to its Content ID allowlist. Ask the rights owner or its authorised representative to confirm that the correct channel is listed before the next stream. A licence and an allowlist address different checks.
- Preserve records before responding. Keep the YouTube notice, licence records, song and version details, and the identity of the channel. Use YouTube’s claim or strike process only when the facts and your rights support your response.
- Check the Castr connection separately. Castr can connect to YouTube through an API flow or by entering YouTube’s streaming server and stream key. These are delivery setup choices; neither one grants music rights or clears a match. See Castr’s YouTube connection instructions.
Can a licence prevent a YouTube interruption?
Not necessarily. A licence may cover your use, but YouTube can still detect the material during a live stream if the rights owner has not allowlisted your channel. Ask the provider or rights owner to verify both the scope of your permission and the channel’s allowlist status. Do not treat a licence label alone as proof that every song, recording, territory, livestream, and replay is covered.
Does Castr prevent copyright claims?
No. Castr delivers the feed and provides ways to connect a YouTube destination; its guidance says it does not clear music rights. Changing the connection method, server, or stream key does not resolve a rights question. Work with the licensing provider and rights owner, and follow the specific notice in YouTube Studio.
