Director Samuel Deats’s October 2024 hiatus update was disappointing, but it was not a cancellation announcement; co-director Adam Deats later said the team would like to continue the series.
What was the disappointing Season 3 update?
On October 14, 2024, director Samuel Deats said Season 2 was mostly wrapped and that the team was “going on hiatus until release and we find out if we’re getting renewed.” Time Extension reported the statement. The hiatus described a pause while the team awaited the season’s release and a renewal decision; it did not say the show had been cancelled.
What did the directors say about continuing?
In an interview around Season 2’s January 2025 release, co-director Adam Deats said he and Samuel Deats would like to make a third season, while making clear that the next direction depended on Netflix and audience response. “The Netflix gods and the audience need to define that for us and help us figure out where we’re going next,” he said. The interview was republished by Filmibee.
Has Netflix renewed or cancelled Season 3?
Netflix’s official show page lists Seasons 1 and 2, and its media page likewise provides no Season 3 announcement. On the official Netflix pages reviewed October 7, 2026, there is no confirmed renewal or cancellation. The directors’ interest is not an official green light, and the hiatus statement is not proof of cancellation.

#1 Best Overall
A third-party tracker labels the series cancelled and attributes the status to TMDB, but that is not a cancellation announcement from Netflix. The reliable distinction is that the directors expressed interest in continuing, while Netflix has not publicly confirmed a decision on Season 3.

Netflix announced that Season 2 would premiere January 16, 2025. The season follows Richter Belmont and his allies as they confront Erzsebet Báthory’s plan to gain the power of Sekhmet. Netflix’s release announcement gives the premise and release date.
Rank #2
Netflix describes Nocturne as a standalone series that expands the Castlevania world and is loosely based on the 1993 game Blood of Rondo. “Loosely based” does not mean the show directly adapts that game. Netflix’s series announcement provides that framing.
