What is the Casio Back to the Future watch called?
The commemorative watch is the Casio CA-500WEBF family. The exact suffix depends on the market: Casio Europe announced the CA-500WEBF-1AER, Casio’s international product page names the CA-500WEBF-1A, and Japanese launch reporting covers the CA-500WEBF-1AJR. Those are regional identifiers for the anniversary collaboration, not different film collaborations. Casio Europe’s product page and its international product page show the market-specific naming.
Casio describes the watch as a new design based on its CA-500 calculator watch and inspired by the DeLorean in the film. It should not be described as an exact replica of a screen-used watch.
How does the anniversary design reference the film?
The film tie-in is concentrated in the watch’s detailing and packaging rather than a different underlying watch concept. Casio’s October 2025 announcement describes colored areas around the buttons as an evocation of the DeLorean’s time circuits. It also specifies a flux-capacitor engraving on the caseback, a Back to the Future logo on the strap clasp, and a silver-colored case and strap. The package is designed to resemble an old videotape. Japanese outlet Impress Watch also describes a grille-like face motif inspired by the DeLorean’s rear lights and notes the “OUTATIME” license-plate reference. That explains the nickname, but the watch’s product identifier remains CA-500WEBF with the applicable regional suffix. Impress Watch’s report covers the Japanese model.

The report says the standard CA-500 design has 16 front buttons. “Daily-life water resistance” is the wording given in that report; it does not establish a more specific depth rating.

The documented claim is narrower: Casio says the CA-500WEBF design is based on its CA-500 calculator watch and takes inspiration from the film’s DeLorean. The cited product information does not establish that this anniversary model exactly reproduces a watch worn on screen, so it is more accurate to call it a licensed, film-inspired anniversary collaboration than a screen-used replica.
