Caroline Rhea and comedian Costaki Economopoulos welcomed their daughter, Ava Rhea Economopoulos, on October 20, 2008, according to the birth announcement and later coverage. The announcement text places the birth in New York City.
When was Caroline Rhea’s daughter born?
Ava was born on October 20, 2008. The date appears in the announcement text reposted by Fok.nl and in a later Yahoo Entertainment retrospective, which identifies PEOPLE as the outlet that published the original announcement. IMDb also repeats the date in its biography.
The announcement text says Ava arrived in New York City. It reports her birth weight as 8 pounds, 15 ounces and her length as 22½ inches; those measurements are reported figures, not independently verified medical records.
What is Caroline Rhea’s daughter’s name?
Her full name is Ava Rhea Economopoulos. Rhea and Economopoulos were described in the announcement as first-time parents; he was Rhea’s boyfriend at the time.

Why did Caroline Rhea choose the name Ava?
The announcement says the couple had considered a Greek name before settling on Ava. It attributes this explanation to Rhea: “We wanted the shortest first name possible, since her last name is the alphabet.” The Yahoo retrospective repeats the naming joke.

The available announcement text is a forum repost rather than the original PEOPLE page. Yahoo’s later feature identifies PEOPLE as the original outlet and corroborates the date, full name and naming joke. The date is also repeated by IMDb, a secondary biography database. These reports support October 20, 2008, but do not amount to verification against an original civil record.
