Captain America: Brave New World received a B− CinemaScore, the lowest CinemaScore grade reported for an MCU film at the time. Earlier MCU lows included B grades for Eternals, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and The Marvels. That makes this a record in one audience-grading measure—not proof that the film is objectively the franchise’s worst.
What CinemaScore did Brave New World receive?
The Associated Press reported a B− CinemaScore for Captain America: Brave New World in 2025. Contemporary comparisons identified it as the lowest CinemaScore grade reported for an MCU film, below the B grades previously associated with Eternals, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and The Marvels. The AP’s weekend box-office report, ComicBook.com’s comparison and Forbes’ CinemaScore context reported the grade and franchise comparison at the time.
What the record does—and does not—mean
CinemaScore is one audience-rating measure. Its letter grade gives a useful point of comparison with other films assessed on the same scale, but it is not a universal verdict on quality. A B− does not establish that every viewer disliked the movie, nor does it settle how the film ranks by critics, on other audience-rating systems or by any individual viewer’s standards. The defensible claim is narrower: contemporary coverage reported a lower CinemaScore grade for this MCU release than for the franchise films previously identified as its lowest.
The sources reporting the grade do not establish the title-specific survey sample size, detailed methodology or survey geography. Those details should not be inferred from the grade.
