Yes, a 24/7 prerecorded loop can be monetized on YouTube, but the fact that it is live or runs continuously does not make it eligible by itself. The channel must be accepted into the YouTube Partner Program (YPP), meet YouTube’s monetization policies, and show original, authentic content with meaningful value. Highly repetitive or mass-produced material may be ineligible, and even enabled ads are not guaranteed to serve.
Does YouTube prohibit a 24/7 prerecorded loop?
YouTube’s published policies do not categorically ban continuous livestreams because they repeat prerecorded material. The policy materials reviewed do not set a maximum loop duration or a pass/fail rule based on how long the stream runs. Instead, YouTube applies its channel monetization policies to livestreams as well as uploaded videos and assesses whether the channel’s content is original and authentic. That means duration alone is not the stated test. It also means no general answer can guarantee that a particular loop or channel will be approved: the outcome depends on the content and channel context.
What can make a loop ineligible for monetization?
Repetitive or mass-produced material
YouTube says highly repetitive, generic, or mass-produced content may be ineligible under its inauthentic-content policy. Examples include repetitive videos with little educational value or variation, and templated material with little or no narrative, commentary, or educational value. A stream that simply repeats the same material without a meaningful reason to watch may therefore raise a policy concern.

Reused material without meaningful added value
Copyright permission and monetization eligibility are separate questions. YouTube says content can fail its reused-content policy even when the creator has permission, if the creator has not added significant original commentary, substantive modification, or educational or entertainment value. Permission may address copyright authorization; it does not, by itself, demonstrate originality for YPP.
The channel as a whole
Review is not limited to the livestream in isolation. YouTube says reviewers may consider the channel’s main theme, most-viewed and newest videos, share of watch time, metadata, and About section. A channel’s broader presentation can help reviewers understand the creator’s contribution and the value viewers receive.
YouTube renamed its prior “repetitious content” policy to “inauthentic content” effective July 15, 2025, clarifying that repetitive or mass-produced material falls within its existing originality requirements; YouTube said the reused-content policy did not change. How to assess your loop before applying or relying on revenue
These questions reflect the policy considerations YouTube describes; they are not a checklist that guarantees approval.
- Authorship: Is the footage, audio, and presentation your own work, and can a reviewer tell what you created or contributed?
- Viewer value: Does the stream provide continuing creative, educational, or entertainment value, or does it feel generic and repetitive?
- Third-party material: If you use someone else’s material, have you added meaningful commentary, substantive changes, or other value beyond permission to use it?
- Channel context: Do your channel theme, other uploads, metadata, and About section clearly explain the original work and value you offer?
A strong answer to these questions may make your contribution clearer, but YouTube publishes no loop-specific duration threshold or guaranteed approval outcome.
What must be in place for a monetized livestream?
First, the channel must be accepted into YPP and follow YouTube’s channel monetization policies. To earn Watch Page ad and YouTube Premium revenue from long-form or live-stream videos, creators must also accept the Watch Page Monetization Module. YouTube: Choose how you want to monetize

Once eligible and monetization is enabled, revenue still depends on YouTube’s ad systems. YouTube says ad slots are not guaranteed to serve ads. So an approved, monetized livestream does not mean every viewer—or every eligible slot—will produce ad revenue.

YouTube lists ads, Super Chat and Super Stickers, and channel memberships as possible revenue methods for livestreams where the channel and feature qualify. For monetized live streams, pre-roll and display ads are automatically enabled when monetization is on; mid-roll ads can be automatic or controlled manually. Ad availability remains subject to YouTube’s systems. YouTube: Monetize your live stream
YouTube reports that creators who chose live automatic mid-rolls saw an average uplift of over 20% in instream ad revenue per hour compared with channels that did not enable the feature. YouTube says the measurement covered 207 countries in January 2024. This is a platform-wide comparison about an ad setting—not evidence that looping streams are more likely to qualify for monetization.

Keep a YouTube loop running without leaving a computer on
If you have already decided to run a prerecorded YouTube stream, StreamNeo is a cloud option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops uploaded videos from the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not need to stay on. StreamNeo is for YouTube streams, not camera-based live broadcasting. See StreamNeo for the service details.
Running a loop reliably does not change YouTube’s originality, reused-content, or YPP requirements. The stream’s content and channel still determine whether it can be monetized.
Or let it run in the cloud
With StreamNeo, nothing has to stay on at home; uploaded video streams at its original quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot; and the service automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
