Yes—if you stream from a computer. YouTube’s computer-streaming guidance does not list a minimum subscriber count for webcam or encoder streams. The YouTube mobile app is different: it requires at least 50 subscribers, so a channel with zero subscribers cannot use that route. Whichever route you use, check channel verification, live-stream access, and the age requirement first.
Can I live stream on YouTube with no subscribers?
Yes. A channel with zero subscribers can meet YouTube’s subscriber-count conditions to stream from a computer using a webcam or an encoder. YouTube’s official computer guidance does not state a subscriber minimum for those methods. This does not guarantee access for every channel: verification, channel standing, age, and live-stream feature activation also matter.
Computer and mobile streaming have different subscriber rules
| Streaming route | Subscriber requirement | Other important conditions |
|---|---|---|
| Computer webcam | No minimum is stated in YouTube’s official computer webcam guidance. | The channel must be verified, have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, meet the age requirement, and have live streaming enabled. |
| Computer encoder | No minimum is stated in YouTube’s official computer live-streaming guidance. | The channel must be verified, have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, meet the age requirement, and have live streaming enabled. |
| YouTube mobile app | At least 50 subscribers. | Verification, channel standing, age, and feature activation still apply. First-time activation may take up to 24 hours. Below 1,000 subscribers, YouTube may limit the mobile audience and make the archive private by default. |
The mobile threshold is specific to streaming from the YouTube mobile app; it does not mean a computer-streaming channel needs 50 subscribers. YouTube says channels must be verified and have had no live-streaming restrictions in the prior 90 days.
What else can prevent a zero-subscriber channel from going live?
Channel verification and live-stream access
Verify the channel and check its current live-stream feature status in YouTube Studio. YouTube’s live-streaming tips say a channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. Subscriber count is only one possible gate, and access can depend on the channel’s current status.

Age requirement
As of July 22, 2025, YouTube requires creators to be at least 16 years old to live stream. This is a platform requirement, not a subscriber threshold.
First-time activation
If live streaming has not previously been enabled, turn it on and allow up to 24 hours for activation. This delay is especially easy to mistake for a subscriber restriction when a new channel is preparing its first stream.

Mobile limits for smaller channels
Channels with 50 to 999 subscribers may face mobile audience limits, and their mobile live-stream archives may be private by default. After a channel reaches 1,000 subscribers, the audience limitation may take several weeks to be removed. These mobile-specific conditions do not change the computer route’s subscriber rule.
What to do if you have 0 subscribers and cannot start a stream
- Choose a computer route. Use YouTube’s webcam option or a streaming encoder rather than the mobile app, which requires 50 subscribers.
- Check channel status. In YouTube Studio, look for the current live-stream feature status and any restriction notice. Confirm the channel is verified.
- Check age and policy standing. The creator must be at least 16, and the channel must not have a live-streaming restriction from the previous 90 days.
- Enable live streaming and wait if needed. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours; retry after activation is complete.
- Do not try to bypass a restriction with another channel. YouTube warns that circumventing a live-stream restriction can violate its terms and may lead to account termination.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the goal is to keep uploaded videos playing as a 24/7 YouTube stream, rather than go live from a camera, StreamNeo is a cloud option. It does not remove YouTube’s eligibility rules or bypass a channel restriction; check that the channel can live stream before setting it up.
