Yes, but only in eligible BMWs: Paramount+ is available through the BMW Video App on supported vehicles with BMW Operating System 9, subject to market availability. In the United States, you need both an active Paramount+ subscription and BMW Digital Premium. Video is for when the vehicle is stationary; playback shuts off when the journey resumes.
What the BMW–Paramount+ integration does
BMW Group announced the partnership on October 9, 2024. Paramount+ is offered through BMW’s Video App, identified by BMW as the DTS AutoStage Video Service powered by TiVo. BMW’s announcement covered BMW and MINI vehicles with their respective Operating System 9 platforms and listed Austria, France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, the United States and Switzerland as launch markets. Availability may differ by vehicle and market. BMW’s announcement named films, originals, series, live sports and breaking news; individual programs and rights depend on the Paramount+ catalog in your country and can change over time.
Which BMWs can use Paramount+?
The key qualification is BMW Operating System 9, not simply a recent model year, a large display or a particular model name. BMW USA says OS 9 began appearing from the factory in Model Year 2024 BMW X1 vehicles. Other BMWs may have OS 9, but eligibility can depend on model, production date, equipment, software and market. BMW’s OS 9 FAQ provides background, while its Video App FAQ recommends checking the vehicle’s own account.
Check before subscribing: Sign in to My Garage on BMW USA and open ConnectedDrive Store. Look for the Video App and BMW Digital Premium for your vehicle. Menu wording may differ by interface and software version.

BMW’s Paramount+ announcement names OS 9 vehicles. Although BMW documents Video App availability for some OS 8.5 configurations, that is not enough to establish that Paramount+ works on every OS 8.5 BMW. Confirm directly for your vehicle rather than assuming compatibility.
What subscriptions do you need in the United States?
| Service | What it provides |
|---|---|
| Paramount+ subscription | Access to Paramount+ programming with your account, subject to its plan and market terms. |
| BMW Digital Premium | For BMW OS 9 vehicles in the United States, the active BMW subscription required for the Video App and its associated connected-car data functionality. |
These are separate subscriptions: BMW Digital Premium does not include Paramount+. Check the BMW ConnectedDrive page and your vehicle’s ConnectedDrive Store for current availability, price and term. BMW pricing may depend on vehicle, market, promotion and subscription term. Check Paramount+ for its current plans and pricing; neither service’s price should be assumed from an older launch announcement.

How to watch Paramount+ in a BMW
This is the general route; prompts and labels can vary with vehicle software and market.
- Park safely and leave the vehicle stationary.
- Open the Video App on the control display.
- Select Paramount+ from the available providers.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to sign in to your Paramount+ account.
- Start playback while the vehicle remains stationary.
The integrated service is a native BMW app, not ordinary Apple CarPlay or Android Auto screen mirroring. BMW Digital Premium is designed to provide connectivity for supported in-car apps, so a phone hotspot is not normally needed for the native app. Cellular coverage still matters: weak service can interrupt playback or reduce video quality. A hotspot can connect a separate phone or tablet, but it does not add native Video App support to an ineligible BMW. See BMW’s ConnectedDrive information and connected-car overview.

Can you watch while driving?
No. BMW says playback is available while the vehicle is stationary and automatically switches off when the journey resumes. That applies even if a passenger is watching on the front control display. The feature is intended for parked periods such as charging stops, breaks or waiting in the vehicle, not for viewing on the move. Do not try to bypass the restriction.
What to do if Paramount+ is missing or stops playing
The app or provider is not listed
- Confirm that the vehicle has OS 9; a new model year or touchscreen alone does not prove eligibility.
- Check that the vehicle is in a supported market and that you selected the correct vehicle in My Garage.
- Open ConnectedDrive Store and confirm Video App availability and BMW Digital Premium status.
- Check for vehicle software updates, then restart the infotainment system and try again.
- If the entitlement appears active but the app remains unavailable, contact BMW support or a dealer.
BMW’s software-update information explains that updates can affect connected functions.

The app opens but playback fails
- If playback stops as the vehicle moves, that is the intended safety shutdown.
- If the vehicle is stationary, check cellular reception and retry where coverage is stronger.
- If prompted, sign in to Paramount+ again; an expired session may require reauthentication.
- Check whether the title is available under your Paramount+ plan and in your market.
- If the app and connection appear normal but playback still fails, the service may be temporarily unavailable; retry later or contact the relevant support service.
Is in-car Paramount+ the right option?
The integrated app is most useful if your BMW qualifies, you already pay for Paramount+, and you want an in-car screen during parked breaks. It is less compelling if you would add both subscriptions just for occasional viewing, your usual parking spots have weak cellular service, or you need rear-seat viewing on a dedicated large screen. Compare the cost of the two services with simply watching on a separate device before subscribing.

Alternatives
- Phone or tablet: Works independently of the BMW’s operating system and can use cellular data or a hotspot. It needs a separate screen and secure placement; the driver must not interact with it while driving.
- Portable streaming device or laptop: May offer flexibility while parked, but requires a screen, power and connectivity. Compatibility with the BMW’s built-in display is not guaranteed.
- BMW Theatre Screen: A distinct rear-seat entertainment system associated with certain 7 Series configurations, not a requirement for the standard Video App. BMW describes it as using Amazon Fire TV and 5G; Paramount+ availability depends on the Fire TV environment and current app support. See BMW’s Theatre Screen overview.
