Its guidance does not confirm whether UPI is accepted for prepaid membership purchases. Check the payment methods shown at YouTube checkout for your account and location.
Does a 24/7 livestream change how membership payments work?
No separate payment rule for a continuously live stream is described in YouTube’s guidance. A membership is attached to the channel and its perks, such as badges and members-only content; it is not a one-time ticket to watch a particular livestream. YouTube describes channel memberships as payments for channel-specific benefits (YouTube Help: Billing and payment info for channel members).
Whether the channel happens to stream 24/7 does not, in the cited guidance, determine which payment methods YouTube offers. The checkout options available to you are what matter.
What Google’s India guidance says about billing
Google Pay Help states: “Recurring plans for channel memberships are temporarily turned off. Use prepaid plans to use this service.” That is the India-specific guidance for this billing question (Google Pay Help: Changes to automatic payments in India).

Accordingly, the available official guidance does not establish that UPI works for prepaid channel memberships. It also does not say UPI is impossible for that purchase.
Why UPI AutoPay is not proof that UPI will work
Google documents UPI AutoPay as a way to set up recurring payments, including monthly schedules (Google Pay Help: Manage AutoPay). That general capability is not a list of payment options for YouTube’s prepaid channel-membership checkout, and it does not override Google’s notice that recurring membership plans are temporarily turned off in India.

YouTube also notes that recurring payments can be affected by India’s e-mandate requirements and that a member’s bank may not support recurring payments (YouTube Help: Billing and payment info for channel members). This explains possible friction with recurring billing; it does not confirm or rule out UPI for a prepaid purchase.
How to check the payment methods for your account
- Open the participating channel in YouTube and choose its Join or membership option.
- Review the available membership plan and the payment methods displayed at checkout. Do not assume UPI is supported unless YouTube shows it for this purchase.
- If a prepaid plan is offered, follow the checkout options shown for your account, device, and location. If UPI is not listed, choose another displayed method or try again later.
YouTube says viewers must be at least 18 years old (19 in Korea and Algeria), be in a country or region where memberships are available, and join a participating channel. Prices and availability may vary by country and platform (YouTube Help: Join, change, or cancel a membership).

Do not confuse memberships with other YouTube payments
This question concerns a channel’s membership perks. YouTube Premium is a separate subscription, while Super Chats and Super Stickers are separate viewer payment features. Their payment options do not establish what YouTube will offer for a channel membership.
