Potentially—but it depends on the sustained upload speed and stability available at your address, not the broadband label or advertised download speed. YouTube recommends 35 Mbps for a 4K/2160p, 60 fps stream using AV1 or H.265, or 50 Mbps using H.264. Its network guidance recommends leaving 20% headroom, making practical upload targets about 42 Mbps and 60 Mbps respectively, before allowing for other upload traffic. Those figures are planning calculations from YouTube’s recommendations, not a guarantee that a connection will stay reliable around the clock.
What upload speed does 4K/60 YouTube Live need?
The relevant figure is upload speed: the encoder must send the live video to YouTube. A high download speed does not establish that the upstream connection can carry a stream. YouTube’s current English-language encoder settings and bitrate guidance gives these 4K/2160p, 60 fps figures:
| Codec | YouTube-listed minimum | YouTube-recommended stream bitrate | Practical upload target with 20% headroom |
|---|---|---|---|
| AV1 or H.265 | 10 Mbps | 35 Mbps | About 42 Mbps |
| H.264 | 14 Mbps | 50 Mbps | About 60 Mbps |
The headroom calculation applies YouTube’s recommendation to leave 20% capacity beyond the stream bitrate. The listed minimum is not a sensible 24/7 planning target: it is lower than the recommended bitrate and does not include headroom. If another device or service is uploading, its traffic also needs capacity. YouTube’s streaming tips state that the total bitrate cannot exceed available upload bandwidth.
Why there is no single answer for Indian broadband
India does not have one uniform broadband upload profile. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) says it does not prescribe a minimum upload or download speed. Providers must disclose typical speeds in their tariff offerings; TRAI says at least 90% of measured samples must be at or above the declared typical speed. That framework is a reason to check the upload figure for the exact plan, not to assume every plan can sustain a high-bitrate stream. See the TRAI Broadband FAQ.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Provider pages illustrate why plan-specific checking matters, but their headline claims are not a national survey or proof of performance at a particular home. Airtel’s broadband plans list headline tiers such as up to 40 Mbps, 100 Mbps, 300 Mbps and 1 Gbps; those figures alone do not establish upload speed, sustained performance or local availability. JioFiber’s plan page describes symmetrical upload and download speeds, but check the particular plan, location and terms rather than generalizing that statement to all Indian broadband.
No India-wide statistic establishes what share of connections can sustain a 24/7 4K/60 upload, and the cited material does not provide an independent 24-hour test of an Indian ISP plan. Whether it works is connection-specific.

How to check whether your connection is suitable
- Check the declared upload speed for your exact plan and address. Use the provider’s tariff details. Do not infer upload capacity from a download-speed number unless the plan explicitly states that upload and download are symmetrical. TRAI says providers must disclose typical speeds in tariff offerings.
- Measure upload from the streaming computer. TRAI points subscribers to its MySpeed app and portal for speed measurement. A result from a different device or location may not reflect the connection the encoder will use.
- Repeat the measurements at different times and under realistic network load. A single favorable speed test cannot establish sustained performance for a stream that runs all day and night. Include normal household activity, especially other uploads.
- Compare the results with the bitrate target and leave headroom. Plan for about 42 Mbps available upload for a 35 Mbps AV1/H.265 stream, or about 60 Mbps for a 50 Mbps H.264 stream. Add capacity for simultaneous uploads; do not treat those targets as guarantees.
- Run a realistic pre-stream test. YouTube recommends testing before a stream and checking stream health. Use representative motion and audio, then monitor health during operation rather than relying on the plan’s advertised figure.
- Use Ethernet from the encoder to the router if practical. A wired local link may avoid depending on Wi-Fi between the computer and router. It cannot increase the ISP’s upload capacity or prevent an upstream service outage.
What 24/7 operation adds to the test
A connection that carries a short test successfully may still vary over a full day. For continuous streaming, assess repeated upload measurements, available capacity after other traffic, and YouTube’s stream-health indicators over time. A speed test describes a moment; it does not promise uninterrupted service. YouTube’s advice is to test in advance, maintain a reliable network and ensure sufficient outbound bandwidth.
If the home connection cannot meet the target consistently, changing the encoder’s codec or lowering resolution or frame rate may reduce the upload demand. The exact bitrate target depends on the chosen output settings; use YouTube’s encoder guidance for the configuration you actually plan to stream.
