IBM’s loop feature is for simulated-live programming on IBM; YouTube’s documented workflow instead connects an encoder to YouTube with a stream URL and stream key.
What IBM’s loop feature does
IBM Video Streaming’s Live Playlist can play prerecorded videos as a simulated-live event. When looping is enabled, the playlist restarts its videos repeatedly until the configured stop time. IBM says chat and Q&A can remain live during this kind of programming.
This is a loop within IBM Video Streaming, not confirmation of an output route from an IBM playlist to YouTube. IBM’s playlist documentation describes the IBM-hosted feature; its guidance about embedding an IBM playlist player on an external website is likewise about displaying the player, not feeding the playlist into YouTube.

How to set up a looped Live Playlist on IBM
- Meet IBM’s first-use requirement. Before creating your first Live Playlist, complete a true live broadcast on the channel from an encoder or streaming app for more than two minutes.
- Check the source videos. Each video in the playlist must be longer than two minutes.
- Create and schedule a manual Live Playlist. Use IBM Video Streaming’s playlist controls to add the prerecorded videos and schedule the simulated-live broadcast.
- Enable loop broadcast and set the stop time. IBM’s loop setting makes the playlist restart its videos until that configured time. Plan the stop time around the intended duration of the event.

If YouTube must be the destination
YouTube documents an encoder-based workflow: create a live stream, then connect an encoder by entering YouTube’s stream URL and stream key in that encoder. This explains how YouTube ingests a live feed; it does not establish that IBM’s Live Playlist can act as that encoder or provide a direct IBM-to-YouTube route.

- In YouTube, create a live stream using its encoder workflow.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key provided by YouTube.
- Enter those details in an encoder that can send the intended video feed to YouTube, and connect the encoder as YouTube directs.
YouTube’s instructions are at Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder. The reviewed official documentation does not confirm that IBM’s Live Playlist is compatible as the encoder or that a particular third-party relay bridges the two services. If direct IBM-to-YouTube delivery is a requirement, check the current features of your IBM account with IBM rather than assuming that the playlist or its embed option provides it.
Before streaming prerecorded material
Confirm that you have the rights needed to stream both the video and its audio. YouTube’s livestream terms require the provider to have the rights needed to exploit live content, including music rights. Read YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions before broadcasting.

YouTube also says the channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restriction in the prior 90 days. Check its live streaming tips for setup guidance.
