Yes—Gyre says you can change the playlist while a YouTube stream is running. That is different from overwriting an individual file in place: Gyre’s published guidance confirms playlist changes, but does not specify that replacing a stored file currently in playback is supported or gap-free.
What “replacing a video” means in Gyre
Gyre sends prerecorded videos from its cloud service into a YouTube broadcast. In Gyre’s description, the playlist is the set and order of files sent to that broadcast. The company says the playlist can be changed on a running stream, allowing you to add fresh material without rebuilding the broadcast. Gyre’s automation update documents this playlist operation.
That does not establish that you can overwrite a particular uploaded file while it is playing, or that every file-level replacement will be seamless. If that is the exact operation you need, treat it as unconfirmed and check Gyre’s current interface or ask its support team before relying on it.
How the live-stream connection fits together
Changing the playlist is an upstream change to what Gyre sends. YouTube’s broadcast remains a separate live event: an encoder sends a feed to YouTube’s server URL, and a stream key identifies where that feed should go and lets YouTube accept it. Gyre describes its operation as cloud-based, and YouTube includes Gyre in its guide to software encoders for streaming prerecorded video. In this arrangement, your computer is not the machine sending the continuous feed, so it does not need to stay powered for the cloud stream to continue. Prepare the replacement material before changing the playlist
Do not assume that any newly uploaded file is immediately ready to join a live playlist. Gyre says uploaded videos are checked and may require optimization. Its support guidance warns that unoptimized files or playlists mixing files with mismatched parameters can cause buffering, fragmented delivery, interruption, or termination. - Upload and check the replacement file before adding it to the active playlist.
- Resolve any optimization or compatibility warning Gyre reports.
- Keep the playlist’s media parameters consistent where possible, rather than introducing an unverified file into the running sequence.
- After changing the playlist, watch the broadcast and its health indicators instead of assuming the change was error-free.
Check YouTube stream health after the change
YouTube recommends testing a stream before going live and monitoring stream health and review messages during the event. It detects encoder settings and transcodes a live feed into formats intended for viewers using different devices and network conditions. Those precautions are useful when changing source material, but YouTube’s guidance does not prescribe a specific test for editing a Gyre playlist.
