Can Cloud Services Continuously Stream a YouTube Playlist After Upload?

Cloud services can broadcast uploaded prerecorded videos as a continuous YouTube live stream, but upload completion alone does not start the broadcast. Here is how the workflow differs from YouTube playlist Loop, scheduled publication, and Premieres.

Yes—but uploading a video does not, by itself, start a continuous YouTube broadcast. You need to upload the files to a cloud streaming service, arrange them into a playlist, and schedule or start the live stream. The service then sends the prerecorded videos to YouTube as a live broadcast, without your computer needing to stay on.

That is different from turning on YouTube’s player Loop control: Loop repeats a playlist for someone watching, but does not broadcast it live from your channel.

First decide what “continuous” means

Repeat a playlist for a viewer

If you only want a viewer to replay a YouTube playlist, use YouTube’s Loop control in the playlist box while watching a video in that playlist. This repeats playback in the player; it does not create a live event on your channel. A YouTube queue is different again: it is temporary and does not remain saved after the browser closes, according to YouTube’s queue instructions.

Broadcast prerecorded videos as a live event

For a continuous channel broadcast, use a service that sends uploaded files to YouTube Live. You upload the media to the service, order it in a playlist, select YouTube, and schedule or launch the event. The cloud service supplies the video feed after setup; it is not simply replaying a YouTube playlist page.

  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Upload, publish, and go live are separate actions

YouTube’s upload workflow imports a file, lets you set visibility and assign it to a playlist, and then processes it. Upload completion is not the same as publication, and neither action automatically configures a cloud live broadcast. YouTube says publication can happen once SD processing is complete, while total processing time varies with factors including quality, length, format, and traffic. See YouTube’s upload instructions.

You can assign a video to a YouTube playlist during upload, but that playlist assignment is not the playlist inside a separate streaming service. The latter must receive the files and have its own broadcast event configured.

Other YouTube publishing options are not continuous broadcasts

  • Scheduled video: YouTube can make a video public at a chosen time; until then it remains private. An active Community Guidelines strike can prevent a scheduled upload from publishing during the penalty period. This schedules publication, not a continuously repeating live channel. Details: Schedule video publish time.
  • Premiere: A Premiere presents one video as a shared real-time event, immediately after processing or at a scheduled time. It is not a continuous playlist broadcast. YouTube’s related documentation is at Upload YouTube videos.

That page lists its Upload & Stream add-on tiers as Marathon at $79/month, with a four-hour video library and 1080p maximum, and Media at $239/month, with a 12-hour library and 4K maximum. These are Restream-published prices and limits shown on the cited page on July 25, 2026; check the page for current terms before subscribing.

Restream describes a separate feature for looping a single prerecorded video up to 10 times, for a maximum 40-hour stream. Its help article says playlists themselves do not loop; a creator may duplicate videos, subject to the playlist’s 40-entry limit. Do not treat the single-video loop feature as playlist looping. Set up a cloud playlist broadcast

  1. Prepare the source files. Confirm that you have the right to stream every video, including its music, footage, and other included material. Keep the original files ready for upload. YouTube’s upload and publishing steps are described in its upload guide.
  2. Upload to the streaming service. Upload the media into the provider’s cloud storage. This is separate from uploading the same video to YouTube; check the provider’s storage allowance, accepted file requirements, and quality limits before transferring a large library.
  3. Create and order the playlist. Add the uploaded files in the intended sequence. Check whether the service loops a playlist or only a single file, and whether it allows edits after airtime. For Restream, the cited limits are 24 hours and 40 entries, and playlist contents cannot be edited once airing begins.
  4. Connect the YouTube channel. Select YouTube as the destination and follow the service’s authorization or stream-key setup. Do not confuse the service’s playlist with a YouTube playlist assigned during upload.
  5. Schedule or start the broadcast. Configure the event time or launch it according to the service’s workflow. Upload completion alone is not a documented trigger to begin streaming. Restream says its supported file and playlist events go live automatically at the scheduled time.
  6. Check the live event. Confirm that the channel’s broadcast is live and that the expected video is playing. For a long-running stream, review the service’s rules for playlist edits, recovery behavior, storage, and event limits before relying on it unattended.

When an encoder is the better fit

If you already have a live source or your own playout system producing a feed, YouTube Live can receive it through an encoder. You enter YouTube’s server URL and stream key in the encoder, then send the feed to YouTube. This is a live-feed workflow, not an upload-to-cloud-playlist workflow. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. See Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.

What to check before choosing a service

  • Does it schedule one-time events, continuous looping, or both?
  • Does looping apply to one video or to the whole playlist?
  • What are the playlist duration and item-count limits?
  • Can you edit the playlist after the broadcast begins?
  • What storage, resolution, and file requirements apply, and is transcoding involved?
  • Does it support YouTube as the destination, and will the event start automatically at the scheduled time?
  • Is the necessary feature included in the plan or sold as an add-on, and what are the current price and limits?

The cited product pages describe workflows and plan limits; they do not establish a controlled comparison of service reliability or audience performance. Do not infer that a continuous broadcast will increase views or watch time.

Common problems and fixes

The broadcast did not start when the upload finished

Uploading a file is not an automatic broadcast trigger. Create the cloud service’s playlist and schedule or start its event; verify the event time and destination.

The video repeats for a viewer but the channel is not live

You have enabled YouTube’s player Loop control, which repeats playback in the player. Use a cloud streaming service configured to send a live broadcast if you need a live event on the channel.

The playlist cannot be changed after going live

Some services lock playlist contents at airtime. Restream’s cited instructions say its playlist cannot have videos added, removed, or reordered once airing begins. Prepare and verify the order before the event starts.

A scheduled video did not publish

A scheduled public video is a YouTube publishing feature, not a live-stream schedule. Check its visibility and scheduled time; YouTube also notes that an active Community Guidelines strike can prevent scheduled publication during the penalty period.

An encoder stream is not the same as a cloud playlist

An encoder sends a live feed to YouTube using a server URL and stream key. If your source is a set of uploaded prerecorded files and you do not have a continuously running playout system, configure a cloud prerecorded-streaming service instead.
