Plugging in gives your phone power and, on Android, exits Doze; it does not ensure CameraFi Live will keep broadcasting all night. Network drops, phone-specific background restrictions, interruptions, and heat can still stop a stream. Test the exact phone and setup under supervision before relying on it unattended.
What charging does—and does not—change
Android says Doze can begin when a device is unplugged, stationary, and screen-off, restricting network and CPU-intensive activity. Connecting a charger exits Doze and resumes normal app activity. Android’s power-management guidance also describes charging as a state without execution limits for many categories, while noting exceptions such as restricted standby status or a user manually restricting an app’s battery use. These are operating-system behaviors, not a CameraFi uptime promise. Android’s Doze and App Standby guidance and Android’s power-management details explain the distinction.
CameraFi Live supports broadcasting or recording, including camera and screen modes, and CameraFi documents how to configure and start a YouTube broadcast. Its public materials do not promise unattended overnight operation or screen-off continuity. CameraFi Live product information and CameraFi’s YouTube streaming guide describe product capabilities and setup, not overnight endurance.
Test the exact setup before leaving it unattended
- Reproduce your planned setup. Use the same phone, CameraFi mode, charging source, network, and screen-lock behavior you intend to use overnight.
- Start a supervised test stream. Follow CameraFi’s YouTube setup process, then confirm in YouTube that the broadcast is live. Let the test run through the period when the phone would normally lock or turn its screen off.
- Check app background settings if needed. If the stream stops only after the screen turns off, inspect the phone’s per-app battery or background-use controls. Menu names and behavior vary by manufacturer and Android version. Removing a restriction may help on some devices, but it is not a guarantee.
- Check the connection and interruptions. Test internet speed before streaming and use the most stable available connection. YouTube recommends enabling Do Not Disturb to reduce call and notification interruptions during a mobile stream. YouTube’s mobile live-streaming guidance also suggests preparing the battery and considering an external battery pack.
- Verify the outcome before leaving the phone. Confirm the stream remains live, and check the recording or archive settings you need. CameraFi’s tutorial says a broadcast may be available on YouTube after it ends, but it does not guarantee retention or archiving for every stream. CameraFi’s YouTube live tutorial explains starting a broadcast.
Power, network, and heat considerations
YouTube gives a general estimate that streaming uses about 1% of phone battery per minute; this is not a CameraFi-specific measurement and should not be treated as a prediction for your phone. A charger or compatible power bank supplies power, but does not by itself prevent an app interruption, network failure, or overheating. Choose a reputable, compatible power source and test your setup in the conditions in which you plan to stream. The cited guidance establishes no universal safe overnight charging setup or CameraFi-specific thermal limit.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Keep the phone and charging equipment in a well-ventilated place; do not assume charging makes a long, demanding session thermally safe.
- Use a stable Wi-Fi or mobile connection and check that it remains available where the phone will be left.
- Enable Do Not Disturb, while recognizing that it reduces interruptions rather than guaranteeing uninterrupted broadcasting.
If the stream stops: checks to make
- It stops when the screen turns off: repeat the test with CameraFi active, then review the phone’s app-specific battery and background-use restrictions. Device settings differ, and changing them may not solve the issue.
- The broadcast drops despite charging: check the network and whether YouTube still shows the stream as live. Charging addresses power and Doze behavior, not connection continuity.
- Calls or notifications interrupt the session: enable Do Not Disturb before the next supervised test.
- The phone becomes unusually hot or the charger behaves unexpectedly: stop the test and reassess the device placement and compatible power source rather than assuming the setup is safe for unattended use.
- You need a recording afterward: confirm the relevant YouTube recording or archive settings before starting; availability after a broadcast ends is not guaranteed for every stream.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the requirement is an unattended, looping YouTube stream, StreamNeo is a cloud alternative: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Your computer and home connection do not need to stay on. It streams the uploaded video as made, up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo, or start the free day.
