Yes. An Indian YouTube channel can livestream with fewer than 50 subscribers using YouTube’s computer webcam or encoder route, provided it meets YouTube’s general livestream requirements. The 50-subscriber minimum applies to livestreaming from the YouTube mobile app, not to the documented computer methods.

YouTube documents webcam and encoder streaming as separate from mobile streaming. Its general eligibility guidance requires channel verification and no livestreaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days; it also sets a minimum age of 16. How to livestream from a computer with fewer than 50 subscribers
- Enable livestreaming and verify your channel. Sign in to YouTube and follow the channel verification and livestream activation prompts. YouTube says the first stream can take up to 24 hours to become available after activation.
- Open Live Control Room. On a computer, go to YouTube Studio and select Create > Go live.
- Choose the webcam method. In Live Control Room, select Webcam, then choose the webcam and microphone you want to use.
- Set up the broadcast and go live. Add the stream details, check the selected camera and microphone, and start the livestream from YouTube.
The YouTube webcam route is the simplest documented computer option if you do not need an encoder-based production. If you want gameplay capture, overlays, or a more involved audio/video setup, YouTube also supports encoder streaming. The general eligibility requirements remain relevant whichever computer route you choose.
Why the mobile app may still block you
YouTube’s mobile livestream requirements include at least 50 subscribers, channel verification, livestreaming enabled, and no livestream restrictions within the prior 90 days. After enabling livestreaming, first-time activation may take up to 24 hours. India’s appearance on YouTube’s list of countries with Playables availability does not waive the mobile subscriber minimum.

For channels with 50–999 subscribers, YouTube may limit the audience and set the livestream archive to private by default. YouTube notes that the change can take a few weeks to take effect; the 1,000-subscriber mark is relevant to the eventual removal of these mobile limits, not permission to use the computer methods.
If “Go Live” is unavailable
- Check the method: If you are trying to stream from the mobile app, the 50-subscriber minimum applies. Switch to a computer webcam or encoder route if you have fewer than 50 subscribers.
- Check verification and activation: Confirm the channel is verified and livestreaming is enabled. Allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation.
- Check restrictions: A livestream restriction in the preceding 90 days can prevent access.
- Check age: The streamer must be at least 16. YouTube says a stream that does not meet its minimum-age requirement may be taken down, and the account may temporarily lose livestream access.
- For mobile streams with 50–999 subscribers: Viewer limits or private-by-default archives may apply, and YouTube says these changes can take a few weeks to reflect.
