A YouTube playlist is a collection of videos, not a live broadcast. To run bhajans as a 24/7 YouTube live stream, you need a workflow that sends a continuous program feed to YouTube Live—typically through an encoder. YouTube does not document a built-in feature that turns a playlist directly into an uninterrupted live stream, and it does not guarantee that a stream will run continuously for 24 hours.
What is the difference between a playlist and a live stream?
A playlist groups videos for viewers to play in sequence. A live stream is a broadcast feed that your channel sends to YouTube Live. Adding bhajan videos to a playlist does not publish them as a live event; the playlist and the broadcast are separate. YouTube describes encoder streaming as one way to send a live feed, but its guidance does not describe a native playlist-to-live-stream conversion. YouTube’s live-streaming overview and its playlist guidance cover these as distinct functions.
How to set up a continuous bhajan live stream
- Check channel eligibility. YouTube says the channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. Check the current status in YouTube Studio before planning the broadcast. YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance explains the requirements.
- Choose a workflow that can send a live feed. Use YouTube Live with an encoder to deliver the program. Arrange the bhajans to repeat within the encoder workflow you choose; scheduling a live stream or reusing stream settings does not itself make videos loop continuously. YouTube lists encoder streaming as an option and recommends professional-grade hardware encoders for higher-production-value events, but hardware is not established as a requirement for every creator. Verify that your particular workflow supports the continuous playback you need before going live. YouTube’s encoder setup guidance describes the encoder path.
- Schedule or create the live event and connect the encoder. In YouTube Studio, open the live-streaming controls, create or schedule the event if useful, then connect your encoder using the stream settings provided by YouTube. Scheduling helps set up the event; it does not convert a playlist into a broadcast. Keep the stream key private, and follow YouTube’s current on-screen setup directions.
- Test the full loop. Confirm that the encoder sends the intended video and audio, that playback continues through the end of the program and into the next repeat, and that the live event remains active. YouTube’s reviewed guidance does not guarantee 24/7 continuity, so do not assume that a successful start means the feed will remain uninterrupted.
- Decide how you will retain a recording. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived; streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. If keeping the complete 24-hour program matters, arrange a local recording backup rather than relying on YouTube’s archive. YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance describes this limit.
Clear rights for every recording before broadcast
Devotional or religious subject matter does not make a recording copyright-free. You are responsible for obtaining the necessary rights, including music licensing rights, for the bhajans and the recordings you send. YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content; a match can trigger a warning, interruption, or termination. YouTube’s terms place responsibility for necessary rights on the content provider, and YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance explains its matching process.
If a rights owner has licensed the stream, ask whether they need to add your channel to their Content ID allowlist. YouTube says a licensed stream can still be interrupted if the channel is not allowlisted. Keep permission records for the actual recordings and relevant musical rights; clearance for one recording does not establish clearance for another.

Copyright clearance and monetization are separate
Having permission to stream music does not automatically make a channel eligible for monetization. YouTube’s reused-content review is separate from copyright enforcement and applies at channel level. Its July 15, 2025 policy update clarified that repetitive or mass-produced content falls under its “inauthentic content” policy; YouTube said the reused-content policy itself did not change. A channel built around repeated recordings should therefore assess monetization eligibility separately from its music rights. YouTube’s monetization policies provide the current policy details.
Common problems and what to check
- The playlist plays for viewers, but there is no live event: the playlist is not the broadcast. Create a YouTube Live event and send a program feed through an encoder.
- The program stops at the end of a video or playlist: check whether the chosen encoder workflow is configured to repeat the program. Do not rely on YouTube scheduling to create a loop.
- The stream is interrupted after a copyright match: review the matched content and your documentation. If the stream is licensed, contact the rights owner about Content ID allowlisting; licensing alone may not prevent interruption if the channel is not allowlisted.
- You cannot start a live stream: check channel verification and whether a live-stream restriction occurred in the preceding 90 days, then review YouTube Studio for the current eligibility status.
- The full broadcast is missing from the archive: a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. Use a local recording if retaining the entire program is important.
