YouTube describes the limit as a cap on how many streams a channel can create in a 24-hour period. Its help pages do not say that reaching the cap automatically cuts off an active broadcast, but they also do not explicitly guarantee that it will continue.
What YouTube’s daily limit means
YouTube describes the “Daily live stream limit achieved” error as a limit on how many livestreams a channel can create in a 24-hour period. Its guidance says that after reaching the limit, you can try creating livestreams again in 24 hours. See YouTube’s live streaming error messages and guidance on avoiding live streaming restrictions.
Because the published wording concerns creating streams, it indicates that the daily cap applies when starting another broadcast. It does not say that YouTube stops a broadcast already in progress when the channel reaches that cap. Treat that as the best reading of the help text, not a guarantee: YouTube does not explicitly address continuity in this exact situation.
Daily creation limits are different from simultaneous-stream limits
A separate rule limits how many broadcasts can be active at once: YouTube’s getting-started guidance says a channel can have up to 10 active streams, with up to three active streams per stream key. Both limits apply, and reaching either one prevents additional streams from starting. These are concurrency caps, not the daily creation limit. Details are in YouTube’s livestreaming setup guidance.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
What to do if the current stream is live
- If your broadcast is still live and healthy, the daily-limit message alone does not indicate that it will be terminated. Check the live control room and stream health for the actual status.
- If you cannot start another stream, wait 24 hours before trying again, as YouTube advises.
- Check the channel’s feature access in YouTube Studio if you need to understand its current eligibility level. YouTube says intermediate access may be upgraded through identity verification to advanced access, which usually has higher limits; it does not promise a specific limit or an immediate increase for an individual channel. See YouTube’s feature-access guidance.
- If an active broadcast ends, diagnose the actual stream-health, connection, or policy message rather than assuming the daily creation cap caused it. The daily-limit guidance explains a restriction on creating streams, not the cause of every interrupted broadcast.
Stream keys and auto-start do not bypass the cap
A stream key tells an encoder where to send its feed so YouTube can receive it. Auto-start and auto-stop settings can let the encoder start or stop streaming, but YouTube’s settings guidance does not describe either a stream key or equipment as a way around the daily creation limit. See Manage live stream settings.
Do not try to evade an account restriction by switching to another channel. YouTube warns that using another channel while an account restriction is active is prohibited; consult its restriction guidance.
