Yes, it can—but being live around the clock does not itself earn a Hindi channel more recommendations or subscribers. A continuous stream is useful when it gives a defined audience a reason to discover, watch, and return to the channel. YouTube’s published guidance emphasizes viewer interest and response, not hours online.
What a 24/7 stream can—and cannot—do for growth
YouTube says recommendations are personalized around what viewers watch and enjoy. Signals include viewing and search history, whether people choose or ignore a video, viewing duration, interactions, survey responses, and language interests. The platform does not say that streaming longer by itself earns a recommendation boost or subscriber growth. YouTube’s explanation of its recommendation system is a useful starting point.
For a Hindi channel, language can help the right viewers find content that fits their interests, but there is no established special growth effect for running a Hindi stream 24/7. Availability may give interested viewers more chances to encounter a program; whether they stay or subscribe depends on their response to what the stream offers.
Nor does trying live video inherently harm a channel. YouTube says experimenting with livestreams alongside Shorts and regular videos will not inherently confuse its recommendation system or negatively affect overall channel performance. Each piece of content is evaluated through viewer response and personalization. YouTube’s guidance on recommendations and experimenting with formats explains this distinction.

Choose a format viewers have a reason to return to
A continuous stream makes most sense when the intended experience benefits from being available at different times—for example, a documentary-themed programming block or a clearly described Hindi-language viewing experience. That is a programming choice, not a promise of reach. A loop without a clear title, audience, or reason to stay gives viewers little basis to choose it over other content.

The audience-fit judgments and comparison of iteration are practical considerations, not claims that YouTube favors one format. Use your channel’s own viewing and returning-audience data to decide.
Promote the stream and make the replay useful
- Schedule the event and share its link. YouTube recommends sharing a scheduled stream in advance and promoting it with a trailer or teaser. Public events may appear to subscribers in their homepage feed, and streams may appear in What to Watch Next; these are possible discovery opportunities, not guaranteed distribution. - Make the promise specific. Use a title and thumbnail that make the Hindi-language subject or viewing experience clear. In the description, explain what is playing and why a viewer might stay or return. Treat this as a way to set expectations and assess appeal, not an algorithm workaround.
- Decide what happens after the live event. YouTube recommends making useful archives public and organizing archives and highlights into playlists. A replay, selected highlights, or a related regular video can give viewers another way to continue watching.
Account for YouTube’s 12-hour archive and DVR limits
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived and recommends keeping a local recording backup. If a stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all. DVR lets viewers pause and rewind some live streams, but YouTube warns that rewind may be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. Read YouTube’s archive guidance and DVR guidance before relying on a continuous broadcast as a replay asset.

If a dependable replay matters, weigh shorter scheduled blocks and local recordings against the always-on format. YouTube’s warning is about archive and DVR behavior; it is not a prohibition on broadcasts longer than 12 hours.
Check eligibility and choose a streaming method
YouTube’s live-streaming guidance says a channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. Streamers must be at least 16 years old. YouTube lists mobile, webcam, encoder, and console streaming options; availability and features differ by method. Its feature comparison says vertical live streams can be discovered in the Shorts feed, while horizontal streams are not listed as discoverable there. For an encoder stream, YouTube provides a stream URL and stream key to use with an encoder; its guidance does not require one particular encoder brand or device. Keep the key private: it is the credential used to connect the encoder to your channel’s live stream. The official encoder setup steps are at YouTube’s encoder streaming guide.
Before broadcasting, use content you have the rights to stream. A live setup does not make copyrighted footage or music permissible, and a stream’s availability does not guarantee that it will satisfy YouTube’s policies or viewers’ expectations. Review the rules applicable to your channel and content before building a long-running schedule.

Measure whether the stream is helping
Do not judge the experiment by total hours online or subscriber count alone. In YouTube Studio, review Live analytics and look at the measures that correspond to each step from discovery to return viewing:
- Appeal: impressions and click-through rate, where available.
- Viewing: views and average view duration.
- Discovery: traffic sources and search terms.
- Conversion: subscribers gained during streams.
- Audience quality over time: unique viewers or monthly audience, plus new, casual, and regular viewers and returning-viewer behavior.
YouTube describes these as useful ways to understand live performance and audience response. Consult YouTube Analytics guidance and its audience measurement guidance. Subscribers are not the same as active viewers; returning casual and regular viewers offer additional context about whether people are coming back.
For a practical comparison, record a baseline, run a time-limited schedule, then compare the same measures across reasonably similar periods and formats. Keep the topic and promotion clear enough to interpret the results. This is a creator-side way to learn from analytics, not a YouTube-prescribed experiment or proof that the stream caused a change.
Common problems and what to do
- The stream is live but viewers are not finding it: Check impressions, click-through rate, traffic sources, and search terms. Improve the event’s title, thumbnail, description, and advance promotion, then see whether discovery changes.
- People click but do not stay: Review average view duration and the stream’s promise. Make sure the content delivers what the title and description led viewers to expect.
- Subscribers rise but returning viewing does not: Compare subscriber gains with unique or monthly viewers and the new, casual, and regular audience measures. A larger subscriber count alone does not establish an active returning audience.
- A long stream has no usable archive or rewind: Check its duration against YouTube’s 12-hour archive and DVR warnings. For replay access, plan shorter sessions where appropriate and keep a local recording backup.
- An encoder will not connect: Confirm that the encoder uses the stream URL and current stream key for the intended YouTube stream. Check YouTube’s encoder setup instructions rather than assuming a particular device or software is required.
