If CameraFi Live says your YouTube stream key is rejected, first check that you copied the current key for the correct channel and stream in YouTube Studio. The stream URL is a separate setting: verify it independently. If a fresh key and matching URL still fail, check whether YouTube livestreaming is enabled and whether the error is actually about RTMPS or connectivity. The exact CameraFi message does not, by itself, reveal one confirmed cause.
First, identify where and how the failure happens
Write down the full error and note when it appears: in CameraFi before streaming starts, in YouTube Live Control Room, or after CameraFi begins sending the feed. “Stream key rejected” can point to a stale or mismatched key, but an incorrect channel, incomplete livestream setup, server URL, protocol, or connection issue can also prevent a stream from starting.
Do not share the stream key in screenshots, email, or public support posts. YouTube describes stream keys as being like a stream’s password and address; treat the key as a credential. See YouTube Help: Manage live stream settings.
Check the channel and livestream setup
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Create → Go live to reach the Live Control Room.
- Confirm that the selected channel is the one you intend to stream to, then select the intended stream.
- If this is the channel’s first livestream, confirm that YouTube livestreaming is enabled for that channel. CameraFi’s setup guidance says activation can take up to 24 hours after enabling the feature; this is vendor guidance, not a guaranteed resolution time for a rejected key. See CameraFi’s YouTube Live setup guide.
- If your Google account manages multiple YouTube channels, check verification for the specific channel you are using. CameraFi’s FAQ notes that verification applies to the channel, so another channel under the same account may need its own verification. See CameraFi’s FAQ.
Copy the current key into CameraFi Live
- In YouTube Studio, open Create → Go live → Stream and locate the stream key for the intended stream.
- Copy that key and paste it into CameraFi Live’s stream-key field. Make sure you have not pasted it into the server URL field.
- If you suspect the key is old, was copied from a different stream, or has been exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio and replace the saved value in CameraFi. YouTube says a channel owner or manager must reset the key. Once reset, every encoder that uses it must be updated; the old key will no longer be the one to use.
YouTube’s guidance for encoder start errors is to copy a key from Live Control Room and paste it into the encoder. If the fresh key still fails, continue through the checks below rather than repeatedly retrying an obsolete key. See YouTube Help: Troubleshoot your YouTube live stream.

Check the server URL and RTMPS separately
The stream key and server URL are distinct settings. Compare CameraFi’s server or stream URL with the URL shown for the same YouTube stream. Use each value in its matching field; do not substitute the key for the URL or vice versa.
If the error mentions an SSL certificate or a timeout, treat it as a possible transport or connection problem rather than proof that the key is invalid. YouTube’s RTMPS guidance says to verify that the server URL uses RTMPS and that the encoder supports RTMPS. It discusses port 443 as an adjustment for the described SSL-error case, not as a general fix for rejected keys. See YouTube Help: Encrypt your stream using RTMPS.

Update CameraFi and isolate remaining encoder or network issues
- Check the official app store for a CameraFi Live update. The Google Play listing showed an update dated 2026-09-11 when checked for this article; store listings and app versions can change. See CameraFi Live on Google Play.
- If CameraFi reports that it has started sending but YouTube does not receive the stream, inspect CameraFi’s encoder output and test whether the device’s network can make outbound streaming connections. YouTube recommends updating encoder software, inspecting output, and testing outbound connectivity when encoder trouble persists.
- Check which connection method you selected. CameraFi’s FAQ says users who sign in to YouTube through third-party streaming software without entering a stream key should contact that software’s support team if the sign-in integration fails. This differs from manually entering a key.
YouTube’s general troubleshooting steps do not identify a specific CameraFi defect behind the phrase “stream key rejected.” The reviewed CameraFi materials also do not assign that exact wording a single cause, so avoid assuming it means an account ban, a YouTube outage, or a particular app bug.
When the error remains, contact CameraFi support
If you have confirmed the channel, stream, current key, matching URL, and livestream setup, send CameraFi support the exact error text and the details needed to distinguish an integration issue from a credential or transport problem. CameraFi lists [email protected] for app questions.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does “stream key rejected” prove that my YouTube channel is restricted?
No. The wording alone does not establish a restriction or identify the cause; verify the stream settings and setup, then ask CameraFi about the exact message if it persists.
Can I send my stream key to CameraFi support?
Do not include it in your message. Share the error and setup details instead; a stream key should be treated as a password.
