Super Buu after absorbing Gotenks ranks next. Kid Buu is the final and most destructive-feeling opponent, but that does not establish him as stronger than the absorbed forms.
How this ranking measures Buu’s strength
This ranking follows the manga’s Buu arc and weighs explicit statements about increased strength alongside the order of events. The official Dragon Ball story recap describes Super Buu reaching greater strength after absorbing Gotenks and Piccolo, then absorbing Gohan. It does not provide a power-level chart or a definitive ranking of every intermediate state. The top placements are therefore evidence-based interpretations of the story, while lower comparisons are less certain.
Strength is not the same as danger. Buu’s temperament, destructive behavior, and role as the final opponent can make a form seem more threatening without proving it is the most powerful in a direct comparison.

Super Buu with Ultimate Gohan absorbed
This is the best-supported choice for the strongest form. Before taking in Gohan, Super Buu had absorbed Gotenks and Piccolo and gained greater strength. He then absorbed Gohan, adding another powerful fighter to the combination. The recap’s sequence supports placing this version first, although it does not call it the strongest in a formal ranking. Vegito later overpowers Super Buu, but that encounter does not supply a numerical comparison among Buu’s forms.

Super Buu with Gotenks and Piccolo absorbed
The official recap specifically says Buu reaches “even greater heights of strength” after absorbing Gotenks and Piccolo. That makes this the clearest runner-up to the Gohan-absorbed state. Gotenks’ fusion power is central to why the transformation is such a major escalation.

Other Super Buu absorption states
Super Buu’s other combinations belong below the two leading forms, but the recap does not assign precise power values to each one. Their placement is consequently a broad ranking, not a settled hierarchy. The useful distinction is to identify who has been absorbed rather than treat every altered appearance as a separately measured level of strength.

Super Buu, unabsorbed
This is the powerful form that emerges when the evil aspect splits from Majin Buu (Good). It remains a formidable opponent before later absorptions, and the story shows Gotenks and Ultimate Gohan challenging him. The recap does not quantify how he compares with every lower Buu state.

Majin Buu (Pure), or Kid Buu
After the absorbed fighters are rescued, Buu returns to his original pure form and becomes the final opponent. Kid Buu is terrifying and destructive, but the official account does not establish that he exceeds the absorbed Super Buu forms in raw combat strength. His place as the last enemy is a story role, not proof of first place in a power ranking.

Earlier and good Buu states
Earlier versions and Majin Buu (Good) round out a broad list of Buu’s major states. The recap traces the transformations but does not provide enough direct comparison to rank these lower forms precisely against one another. Treat their relative placement as approximate rather than as a measurable ladder.
Why Kid Buu is not automatically number one
Kid Buu’s reputation rests on his unrestrained, destructive nature and his place in the final battle. But a character can be more chaotic or dangerous without being stronger than every version that came before. In the manga’s sequence, Buu returns to his pure form after the absorbed fighters are removed; the recap does not describe this as surpassing the earlier absorbed combinations in strength. “Most dangerous” and “strongest” are different claims.

Manga and anime continuity
The ranking above concerns the main manga continuity summarized across the story’s final volumes. A separate official feature about the South Supreme Kai in the Dragon Ball Z anime says that absorption produced a bigger, more powerful form. That detail is anime-specific and should not be folded into the manga ranking as if it were the same continuity.

What the story establishes—and what it leaves open
- Buu’s forms reflect transformations and absorptions, not just visual redesigns.
- The official recap explicitly describes increased strength after the Gotenks-and-Piccolo absorption.
- Putting the Gohan-absorbed form first follows the narrative sequence; it is not an official numbered ranking.
- The sources provide no numerical power levels or definitive head-to-head chart for every form.
