Bullet Train is a 2022 action thriller-comedy about assassin Ladybug, played by Brad Pitt, whose attempt to complete a job peacefully is disrupted by other passengers with intersecting goals. Directed by David Leitch, the film unfolds aboard a train traveling from Tokyo to Morioka and is based on Kōtarō Isaka’s novel Maria Beetle.
What is Bullet Train about?
Ladybug boards a fast-moving train in Japan to carry out an assignment. He wants to keep the job calm, but he encounters other assassins whose objectives overlap and conflict. Who stars in the film?
Brad Pitt stars as Ladybug. The central ensemble also includes Joey King as Prince, Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Tangerine, Brian Tyree Henry as Lemon, and Andrew Koji as Kimura. David Leitch directed the film, and Zak Olkewicz wrote the screenplay. The credits are listed by Rotten Tomatoes.
Is Bullet Train based on a book?
Yes. Sony Pictures India identifies the film as an adaptation of Maria Beetle, a Japanese novel by Kōtarō Isaka. The film’s Tokyo-to-Morioka train journey and its ensemble of assassins provide the screen version’s setting and premise; the film is not presented as a documentary or a factual account.

Sony notes that 4K HDR playback requires a compatible 4K UHD television with HDR, an Ultra HD Blu-ray player, and high-speed HDMI 2.0A cables. Blu-ray and digital viewing do not by themselves require that 4K HDR setup.
