Bruce Willis was absent from the Pulp Fiction 30th-anniversary screening in Hollywood on April 18, 2024. His wife, Emma Heming Willis, and daughter Tallulah attended, and Tallulah wore a black cap embroidered with “Bruce” as a visible tribute to the actor, who played boxer Butch Coolidge.
How Bruce Willis’ family honored him
Emma Heming Willis and Tallulah Willis attended the reunion screening on Bruce’s behalf. The Independent reported that Tallulah wore a black cap with “Bruce” embroidered in white. The reports do not say that the family attended at Willis’s request.

Why Bruce Willis was absent
Willis did not attend. The Independent reported that his family announced his frontotemporal dementia diagnosis in February 2023, after an earlier aphasia diagnosis. In the family statement quoted by the outlet, they said, “We now have a more specific diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia.” They described communication challenges as one symptom and said having a clear diagnosis brought relief. This is the family’s previously reported statement, not a new medical update.
Where and when the reunion took place
The screening was held at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood on Thursday, April 18, 2024. It formed part of the opening-night gala for the 15th TCM Classic Film Festival and marked 30 years since the film’s U.S. release in October 1994.
