If BritBox is not working, first identify whether the problem is opening the app, signing in, or playing a show. Then check that BritBox supports your device model and region, and look for an on-screen streaming-limit message. Those checks can distinguish compatibility or account-use issues from an app fault; they cannot confirm whether BritBox is experiencing a live outage.
Start with what is failing
Note whether the app will not launch, closes or freezes, rejects your sign-in, or opens but will not play a programme. Record the exact error text, along with your device model and country. BritBox support and device availability can differ by region, and the right next step depends on the symptom.

Check whether BritBox supports your device
BritBox’s US supported-device page lists web viewing and apps for Apple TV, Roku, Android TV, Samsung, Xfinity, Xumo, LG, Vizio, Chromecast, Fire TV, TCL TV and Sony Android TV: BritBox supported devices. This is a platform list, not confirmation that every model in each brand—or older televisions—will run the app. Check the page and the requirements for your exact model and region before treating a missing or malfunctioning app as a service fault.
Check for a streaming-limit message
If BritBox says you have reached the streaming limit, the account may already be streaming on other devices. BritBox’s US Help Centre advises stopping a stream on another device or upgrading to Premier, which it describes as allowing up to four simultaneous streams. If the app crashes on iPhone or iPad
For an app that freezes or closes on an iPhone or iPad, Apple’s general guidance is to restart the device and update its operating system if an app update is unavailable. For sign-in, playback or TV-specific errors
Use BritBox’s Help Centre for instructions tied to your error, device and region. The available support information does not establish a universal cache-clearing or reinstall sequence, so avoid assuming those steps will fix every TV or app problem. BritBox’s Google Play app listing also provides [email protected] for issues and feedback. Include the device model, country, operating system and app version, the exact error text, and whether other services work on the same device. This gives support useful context; it is not a published official checklist.

When you cannot tell whether BritBox is down
The available sources do not confirm a current outage or provide a live service-status result. Check BritBox’s Help Centre and current announcements for an incident affecting your region or platform. If the app is supported on your exact device and there is no streaming-limit message, but the problem continues, contact BritBox support with the details above rather than assuming a reset or reinstall will resolve a service-side fault.
