The season arrived in two four-episode batches: Part 1 premiered Jan. 29, 2026, and Part 2 premiered Feb. 26, 2026, according to Netflix’s release announcement. Shondaland’s announcement confirmed the same schedule.
What is the story of Season 4?
Season 4 centers on Benedict and Sophie. At Violet Bridgerton’s masquerade ball, Benedict meets a mysterious guest he calls the Lady in Silver. He later meets Sophie, a resourceful maid, but does not realize that she and the woman from the ball are the same person.

That mistaken identity drives a romance caught between Benedict’s idealized image of the Lady in Silver and his growing affection for Sophie. The season draws on a Cinderella-like setup, but gives equal weight to the constraints of class and Sophie’s need to conceal her feelings. Luke Thompson described its central tension as the pull between “a proper old-school fairy tale” and “the actual reality of the world” in comments to Tudum.

The season guide describes Lady Araminta as a twice-widowed mother whose daughters are entering the marriage mart. Rosamund is her ambitious elder daughter; Posy is the kinder, more talkative younger one. Netflix’s release announcement and later guide use different surnames for Araminta, so “Lady Araminta” avoids that discrepancy.

What is Season 4 based on?
The season is inspired by Julia Quinn’s third Bridgerton novel, An Offer from a Gentleman. Netflix describes the series as drawing from the book while adapting its story for television. The novel is the source text for Benedict and Sophie’s romance; the season’s fairy-tale premise is not a promise that the show follows every book detail unchanged. Who made the season?
Jess Brownell is showrunner. Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers, Tom Verica and Chris Van Dusen are executive producers. Production also expanded to a newly constructed back lot at Shepperton Studios outside London. Netflix says the site spans about two acres and features Georgian- and Regency-style streets and buildings, designed by production designer Alison Gartshore, supervising art director Antony Cartlidge and art director Adam David Grant.

What comes after Season 4?
Netflix’s current season guide says Season 5 is filming and will take place two years after Season 4, with Hannah Dodd and Masali Baduza as Francesca and Michaela. That is production context, not a release date; Netflix’s guide is the place to check for updates.
