What happened at Welcome to Rockville?
During Brass Against’s November 11, 2021 set, while the band was playing Rage Against the Machine’s “Wake Up,” Urista urinated on a fan onstage. The incident took place at Welcome to Rockville in Daytona Beach, Florida, according to the Miami Herald.
The event drew immediate attention because the act happened during a live performance in front of the festival audience. The available reporting establishes the setting and what occurred onstage, but does not establish the fan’s state of mind or consent.
What did Sophia Urista say in her apology?
In a statement reproduced by The Independent on November 17, 2021, Urista said: “I have always pushed the limits in music and on stage. That night, I pushed the limits too far.”

She said some people had been hurt or offended by the incident.
