What is known about each artist’s death?

Liam Payne, One Direction

Payne died in Buenos Aires on 16 October 2024, aged 31, after falling from a hotel balcony. The Associated Press reported the fall and noted that the exact circumstances were unclear in initial coverage. Jonghyun, SHINee

Jonghyun, born Kim Jong-hyun, was 27 when he died in Seoul on 18 December 2017. Yonhap’s report attributed the apparent-suicide account and details to police. Moonbin, ASTRO

Moonbin, an ASTRO member, was 25 when he died in Seoul in 2023. The surfaced report attributed confirmation to his label and police. The available account here does not independently establish a cause of death, so no cause should be stated as confirmed. Report on Moonbin’s death.

Remembering their work, not only their deaths

Payne’s career with One Direction was part of the group’s musical legacy, while Jonghyun was known as a SHINee member and singer-songwriter.
