Beetlejuice Beetlejuice stayed atop the North American box office for a third consecutive weekend, earning an estimated $26 million from Friday through Sunday, September 20–22, 2024. Speak No Evil placed third with an estimated $5.9 million in its second week, behind Transformers One at $25 million.

The figures are estimated Friday-through-Sunday ticket sales, according to Comscore, as reported by the AP; final domestic figures were expected Monday. They are weekend grosses, not measures of total audience size or current lifetime earnings. Associated Press weekend report.
What “quiets” means in this matchup
The headline shorthand describes the difference in weekend receipts and chart position, not a head-to-head contest for first place. Transformers One, not Speak No Evil, was the film nearest to Beetlejuice Beetlejuice on the weekend chart. Speak No Evil earned $5.9 million in its second weekend, less than a quarter of the leader’s $26 million estimate.

How both films changed from the previous weekend
For September 13–15, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice earned $51.6 million, while Speak No Evil opened with $11.5 million. The later weekend therefore followed a decline for both: Beetlejuice remained in first despite falling from its prior-weekend haul, while Speak No Evil moved from an opening-weekend third-place figure to a smaller second-weekend gross. Beetlejuice’s larger box-office run
By the end of its first three weeks, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice had earned more than $226 million domestically and $329.8 million worldwide, according to the AP in 2024. Those are historical totals reported at that point in the film’s run, not current lifetime figures. The AP also described its $110 million opening as the year’s third-best at that time. A Saturday snapshot, not the weekend total
The Numbers’ daily chart provides a separate check on Saturday, September 21: Beetlejuice Beetlejuice grossed $11,838,608 that day and had a Saturday running total of $219,449,050. Speak No Evil took in $2,538,770 on Saturday, with a running total of $19,843,220. Paul Dergarabedian, Comscore senior media analyst, described the month’s market conditions at the time: “September has been a bit of a sleepy month and with around 47% of the revenue being generated by this single film,” and, “Fortunately, October is on track to deliver interesting blockbusters.” His remarks referred to the September marketplace in 2024, rather than to a lasting assessment of the film industry.
