What kind of series is Boston Blue?
The show combines police investigations with family drama and disagreements about ethics and duty. The Associated Press reported that co-creator Brandon Sonnier described the blend this way: “I love a good procedural. I love good family drama. When you get a family drama that is dressed up like a procedural, I’m in.”
In the same AP interview, Wahlberg said continuing to play Danny Reagan brought “a ton of responsibility and pressure.” The report frames Danny’s adjustment to Boston and his partnership with the strong-willed Lena as part of the series’ setup, alongside family, faith, and tradition. These are interview descriptions of the show’s approach, not a guide to specific episode events. Read the AP interview.
