When did Borderlands come out on digital?
Lionsgate announced the U.S. premium digital release for August 30, 2024. The announcement, dated August 27 and reproduced by Screen-Connections, named Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Google Play, Fandango at Home, and other participating services.

The announcement listed a $24.99 purchase and a $19.99 rental for a 48-hour viewing period. Those were U.S. launch terms, not current prices or a guarantee that every service still carries the film. Check the relevant platform for its present listing and rental rules.
What did “digital release” mean?
The August 30 date covered Premium Video on Demand (PVOD) and Premium Electronic Sell-Through (PEST): viewers could pay to rent or purchase the movie through participating digital storefronts. A purchase and a rental are different access options. The announcement specified a 48-hour rental period; purchase access remains subject to the platform’s terms.

For Japan, distributor Klockworx says digital availability depends on each service’s availability period. Its regional film page lists a DVD release on March 4, 2026 and Blu-ray/DVD release on May 13, 2026. Those Japan-specific disc dates do not change the U.S. 2024 digital date.
