She did not identify the cancer type in that announcement. In an April 2 interview, Poublon said it was kidney cancer and had spread. Sherman died at age 81 on June 24, 2025, making the diagnosis announcement a historical update, not a current health report.
What Bobby Sherman’s wife announced
Poublon addressed Sherman’s fans in a Facebook post dated March 25, 2025. She said he had retired and could no longer participate in cameos, sign autographs, or make appearances. She then announced his diagnosis and asked for privacy. The Los Angeles Times reproduced her statement: “It is with a heavy heart that we share Bobby has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. During this challenging time, we kindly ask for your understanding and respect for our privacy. Thank you so much for still remembering him. We really appreciate it.” Los Angeles Times

What type of cancer did Bobby Sherman have?
The March announcement did not specify a type. On April 2, 2025, Poublon told Fox News Digital in a phone interview that Sherman had kidney cancer and that it had spread. Fox reported, based on that interview, that he was at home receiving special care at the time. These health details were attributed to Poublon; they were not presented as medical records.
