The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart is an earlier work that helps explain the comedian’s rise; it is not a recording of the tribute or a companion product for it. CBS’s release supplies the chart and historical-ranking claims, but not a date for the latter ranking. A contemporaneous CBS Evening News segment from July 18, 2024, reported Newhart’s death at 94 and described his trademark deadpan delivery.
