Spoilers for the full series, including the finale. In NBC’s Blindspot, Jane Doe is the amnesiac woman played by Jaimie Alexander; Apple TV credits the character as “Jane Doe/Remi.” She is not Taylor Shaw, Kurt Weller’s childhood friend: that early theory is a false lead. The show’s final episode leaves a different question open—whether Jane survives its last events.
Who is Jane Doe in Blindspot?
Jane is the name given to a woman found in Times Square with no memory and a body covered in tattoos. Those tattoos supply clues that draw the FBI team into a wider criminal conspiracy. The official Netflix overview describes her amnesia and the role of the tattoos; Apple TV’s series listing calls the markings a road map to a larger conspiracy.
Jaimie Alexander plays Jane. Apple TV lists her character credit as “Jane Doe/Remi,” which supports using Remi as the character’s later identity. It does not establish a legal name or additional birth-name details.
Is Jane Taylor Shaw?
No. Taylor Shaw is the identity Jane and the team initially consider: Taylor was Weller’s childhood friend who disappeared. That is a false lead, not Jane’s real identity. In a 2015 TVLine interview, creator Martin Gero said the show would resolve the Taylor Shaw question early. He framed the more important story as what happens after that revelation.

What do the tattoos reveal?
The tattoos are clues rather than a simple explanation of who Jane is. As the team investigates them, they uncover connections to crimes and a larger conspiracy. The mystery therefore has two layers: the early question of whether Jane is Taylor Shaw, and the broader question of who erased Jane’s memory and what the tattoo map is designed to expose. The series premise establishes the clues and conspiracy, but the official summaries cited here do not supply a separate, definitive answer to every question about the person or people behind them.
Does Jane live or die at the end?
Blindspot deliberately leaves Jane’s fate open to interpretation. In the finale, Jane is exposed to ZIP, the substance associated with memory loss. Patterson’s antidote prevents a complete memory wipe, though Jane suffers hallucinations and needs more antidote. The team uses what she remembers to locate and stop Ivy Sands’ ZIP bomb in Times Square. Jane receives more antidote, and the group turns toward their next lives.

The closing images show Jane and Weller with a family, then Jane being zipped into a body bag in Times Square. That contrast can suggest either a happy future or a dying vision. In a July 23, 2020 TV Insider interview, Gero said he wanted viewers to decide what the ending meant: “It’s almost like a Rorschach test, but you kind of see what you want to see in that ending, which is great.” So the series does not settle whether Jane survives; stating either outcome as fact would go beyond the ending’s intended ambiguity.
