Three Squad Zero members give their lives to break the blood-oath seal, allowing Senjumaru Shutara to unleash her Bankai, while Ichibe Hyosube turns Yhwach into a black ant. The episode ends with Yhwach and Uryu in danger and the outcome still unresolved.
What happens in “A”?
The fight above the Soul King’s palace continues as Squad Zero faces Yhwach’s Royal Guards. The episode’s central shift is the breaking of Squad Zero’s blood-oath seal: Tenjiro Kirinji, Kirio Hikifune, and Oetsu Nimaiya sacrifice their lives to make it possible.
With the seal broken, Senjumaru Shutara releases her Bankai and puts the Royal Guards in a desperate position. In the parallel confrontation, Ichibe Hyosube releases Ichimonji and transforms Yhwach into a fragile black ant. These developments leave both battles at a crisis point rather than bringing either to a conclusion. How does episode 27 end?
“A” closes with Yhwach and Uryu in peril. The episode does not resolve the intertwined confrontations, leaving the immediate consequences of Senjumaru’s Bankai and Ichibe’s attack open for what follows.

Why is it called Season 3, Episode 1—and also episode 27?
Catalogs use different numbering conventions. The official anime episode listing identifies “A” as episode 27; Prime Video also presents it as episode 27. Disney+ Singapore lists it as Season 3, episode 1. “Season 3” is also referred to as Part 3, so viewers can use either the season label or the overall episode number to find it. When did “A” air, and how long is it?
Aniplex announced that episode 27 was scheduled to air in Japan on October 5, 2024, at 23:00 Japan time. Prime Video’s localized listing displays October 4, 2024, and gives the episode a 25-minute runtime. The different dates reflect local-time and platform listing conventions; the Prime Video date belongs to that localized listing, rather than establishing one universal date for every territory. Where can you watch or collect Part 3?
Streaming listings are territory-specific and can change. The cited Prime Video page shows an episode purchase, while the Disney+ page is for Singapore. Check the service in your region for current access and the exact listing before renting or buying.
For a physical collection, VIZ lists a Part 3 Limited Edition Blu-ray, a two-disc set containing 14 episodes, including episode 27, “A.” VIZ gives the release date as January 13, 2026. This is a set for Part 3, not a disc containing only this episode; the product listing does not establish current stock at any retailer.
