Spoilers for “Kill the King” (series episode 28; Season 3, Episode 2). At Ichibe Hyosube’s request, Ichigo Kurosaki and his friends rush to the Reio Greater Palace to stop Yhwach. With Yhwach’s powers restored, Ichigo draws both Zangetsu and faces the Quincy King, determined to protect the world.
What happens in “Kill the King”?
The episode moves the conflict to the Reio Greater Palace. Ichibe Hyosube asks Ichigo and his companions to hurry there and stop Yhwach, whose nine years of strength have ended. Yhwach has regained his omniscient and omnipotent powers, setting the stage for the confrontation.
Ichigo draws his two Zangetsu and fights Yhwach. His stated purpose is to protect everything in the world. The official episode synopsis establishes this confrontation and its stakes, but does not provide a verified scene-by-scene account of the fight.
Why is the episode called “Kill the King”?
The title points toward the mission to stop Yhwach, the Quincy King, as Ichigo confronts him at the palace. The available official synopsis confirms that goal and the fight, but does not explain the title’s full significance or establish a more specific interpretation.

Episode number, date, and runtime
“Kill the King” is series-wide episode 28 and is listed as Season 3, Episode 2 by Apple TV and TV Guide. The listed date and runtime vary by broadcaster and platform:

The October 11 date on Apple TV is a US platform listing, not the Japanese broadcast date. The different runtimes are listing values, not a single universal episode length.

Does the episode include the full battle?
The confirmed plot information establishes that Ichigo begins fighting Yhwach, not every exchange or how the episode ends. Prime Video lists “THE DARK ARM” as the next episode, so developments associated with that installment should not be treated as part of “Kill the King.”
