Blake Lively’s February 2025 amended complaint alleged that other women connected with It Ends With Us had raised concerns about Justin Baldoni’s conduct or felt uncomfortable on set. Those were allegations described in the filing, not findings by a court. Baldoni’s lawyer disputed them. The case later narrowed, settled before trial, and led to a limited attorney-fee award—not a damages judgment.
What Lively’s amended complaint alleged
CBS News reported on February 19, 2025, that Lively’s amended complaint described concerns raised by two women connected with the film. The report said one unnamed cast member raised concerns in 2023 about Baldoni’s allegedly unwelcome behavior and its effect on the production. According to the complaint as reported by CBS, Baldoni acknowledged the concerns in writing and indicated that things would change, but the alleged behavior continued.

The report also said a second woman later told Lively she had felt uncomfortable on set. CBS did not identify either woman. These details were allegations recounted in a complaint, not established findings about what occurred.
Lively’s attorneys, Esra Hudson and Mike Gottlieb, said: “Ms. Lively was not alone in raising allegations of on-set misconduct more than a year before the Film was edited.” That was their characterization of the complaint’s evidence, not a court’s conclusion. [CBS News, February 19, 2025]

- IT ENDS WITH US tells the empowering story of Lily Bloom. Grappling with a painful past, Lily embarks on a new life in Boston and opens her own flower shop. After falling in love with Ryle, Lily begins to see sides of him that remind her of her dangerous father. With the support of her friends and allies, Lily must find her own strength to break the pattern or the pattern will break her.
How Baldoni’s side responded
Baldoni’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, rejected the allegations. He described the amendment as “unsubstantial hearsay of unnamed persons” and said Lively lacked actual evidence. Those were the defense’s arguments; they do not independently prove or disprove the complaint’s account.
What the court decided—and what it did not
On April 2, 2026, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York ruled on motions for judgment on the pleadings and summary judgment. It granted judgment to defendants on most counts. At that point, three claims remained for further proceedings:
Rank #2
- dvd, blu ray, film, movie
- Lively’s retaliation claim against It Ends With Us Movie LLC and Wayfarer Studios.
- A retaliation aiding-and-abetting claim against The Agency Group PR.
- A contract-rider claim against It Ends With Us Movie LLC.
The opinion also discussed allegations and evidence involving actress Jenny Slate, including comments about appearance. A court’s account of evidence or allegations in an opinion should not be mistaken for a finding that every alleged event happened. The ruling narrowed the case; it did not resolve the remaining claims at that stage. [U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, April 2, 2026]
The parties settled before trial
The parties reached a settlement in early May 2026, before the scheduled trial. The Associated Press reported on June 1 that the financial terms had not been publicly announced. A joint statement said Lively’s concerns “deserved to be heard” and that the parties “remain firmly committed to workplaces free of improprieties and unproductive environments.” The statement did not amount to an admission of liability. What the August 2026 fee award means
After a fee hearing that continued following the settlement, U.S. District Judge Lewis J. Liman awarded Lively $363,245 in attorney fees and $44,206 in costs on August 26, 2026. Her legal team had sought $8 million. The award covered a limited portion of fees under the relevant California law; it was not damages, did not reveal the settlement amount, and did not establish the truth of every underlying allegation. The AP reported that lawyers for both sides claimed victory. [Associated Press, August 26, 2026]
