A report published October 12, 2026, quoting material credited to the Associated Press, says Lisa expressed a desire to marry and become a mother while thinking about her father’s health and the possibility that fans could react negatively.
Kim described Lisa’s goal this way: “I knew she had this desire to get married and have kids, and that was a very important life goal.”
The report reproduced Lisa’s words within Kim’s account: “I wanna get married and I wanna have kids. My dad is sick and I want him to walk me down the aisle, but I am worried that my fans will not be happy if that happened.” Because the passage is relayed by the director, it should be understood as Kim describing what Lisa said in the film—not as Lisa announcing a relationship or wedding plan through the news report.

Why Lisa is worried about fan reaction
Kim presents the issue as a tension between Lisa’s private hopes and the expectations placed on a global pop star. She said the documentary leaves that tension open rather than resolving it for viewers.
“For us, it’s sort of inconceivable that you’d be mad at an entertainer for having a romantic relationship or driving,” Kim told the Associated Press. Her comment points to the unusually strict image-management environment Lisa experienced during her trainee years at YG Entertainment. AP reported that those rules included restrictions on dating, drinking and obtaining a driver’s license; that description concerns Lisa’s reported trainee experience and should not be generalized to every K-pop artist or agency.

A separate documentary recap by ELLE said Lisa also described concern that dating could affect BLACKPINK’s popularity. In another interview reproduced by PTKOREA from The Hollywood Reporter, Lisa said, “I hope they understand me more” and added, “I’m just a girl, we want the same thing at the end of the day.”

Kim said the film shows Lisa “testing her boundaries, figuring out who she is, figuring out where she wants to take her life and her career, and also kind of figuring out what works for her as a human.” Lisa described the solo transition in similarly personal terms: “I learned so much on my own. I tried things that I never had a chance to try. It was challenging, but I’m just so proud of myself.”
Is Lisa announcing a wedding?
No. The reported comments establish a wish for marriage and children, plus anxiety about how fans might respond. They do not establish that Lisa is dating someone publicly, engaged, planning a wedding or working toward a particular date. Kim’s description specifically frames the subject as an unresolved question in Lisa’s life.

The wider BLACKPINK context
AP reported that BLACKPINK had sold more than 20 million records worldwide and accumulated more than 40 billion streams as of its October 8, 2026 report. Those figures are AP-reported.
