There is no official ranking of Asta’s techniques, and “demon form” is a fan-friendly shorthand rather than the official name for one fixed form. This ranking compares his Anti-Magic abilities when empowered by the devil in his grimoire, including Devil Union, rather than mixing them with every sword technique he uses in other states. It weighs demonstrated combat effect, versatility, reliability, and the limits or conditions attached to each ability.
Manga spoilers follow through the final chapter, published in May 2026.
What “demon form” means for Asta
Asta has no magic of his own. His official character profile describes him as possessing a five-leaf clover grimoire with a devil inside and a sword that cuts through and deflects magic. The Black Clover official anime website likewise says Asta eventually gains Anti-Magic, which nullifies magic, and commits a taboo to obtain the devil’s true power.
That distinction matters: Asta’s Anti-Magic arsenal develops across multiple states and sword abilities. This list focuses on the devil-powered techniques most closely associated with his enhanced forms, not a claim that all of them are always available together. The official materials establish the premise, but do not detail or rank individual techniques; the order below is an editorial judgment based on what the manga depicts.

Ranking Asta’s most powerful devil-powered techniques
1. Devil Union
Devil Union is the most complete expression of Asta’s partnership with Liebe: rather than relying on a single sword action, Asta fights while drawing on the devil’s power throughout his body and weapons. Its top placement reflects that broader application of Anti-Magic and the combat options it enables, not a claim that it has the greatest destructive blast.
Its key drawback is access: it is a transformed state with a finite operating window, not an ability Asta can treat as an unlimited baseline. That constraint makes its high ceiling especially valuable when he can bring it to bear, while keeping it from being a simple, always-on answer.
2. Zetten
Zetten channels Asta’s Anti-Magic into a decisive counterstrike. Its strength is timing and concentration: the technique can turn an opening into a punishing hit instead of requiring Asta to overpower an opponent through prolonged exchanges.
Rank #2
- 5-in-1 USB-C Hub: Experience comprehensive connectivity featuring a Power Delivery input, two USB-A 2.0 ports, a USB-A 3.0 port, and an HDMI port. (Note: The USB-C power delivery input port is only for connecting an external wall charger to power your laptop and cannot power peripheral devices.)
- 90W Pass-Through Charging: Achieve optimal charging with 90W pass-through power to your laptop, supported by a total input of 100W, with the hub reserving 10W for operational efficiency. (Note: Wall charger not included.)
- Quick Data Transfers: Accelerate your productivity with rapid data transfers using a high-speed 5Gbps USB 3.0 port and two 480Mbps USB 2.0 ports.
- 4K HDMI Display: Enhance your visual experience with a hub capable of delivering 4K resolution at 30Hz in both mirror and extend modes. Please note that this hub is compatible with MacBook (macOS 12 and newer), Windows 10 and 11, ChromeOS, and laptops equipped with DP Alt Mode and Power Delivery. Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
Because it depends on reading the moment and landing the strike, Zetten is less broadly useful than Devil Union. It is a high-impact answer to the right opening, not a substitute for constant defense or ranged coverage.

3. Black Divider
Black Divider enlarges the Demon-Slayer Sword with Anti-Magic, giving Asta a much larger cutting threat than an ordinary sword swing. Its scale can help him contest large targets and attacks, which makes it one of his most visually and tactically imposing offensive options.
The enlarged blade remains a committed melee attack: size and reach do not automatically solve speed, positioning, or an opponent’s ability to evade. Its value is greatest when Asta can close distance and make the swing count.
Rank #3
- Sleek 7-in-1 USB-C Hub: Features an HDMI port, two USB-A 3.0 ports, and a USB-C data port, each providing 5Gbps transfer speeds. It also includes a USB-C PD input port for charging up to 100W and dual SD and TF card slots, all in a compact design.
- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
4. Demon-Destroyer Sword: Causality Break
The Demon-Destroyer Sword is distinguished by how it interacts with magic’s effects, not simply by cutting power. Causality Break lets Asta negate lingering magical consequences, making it unusually useful when the danger is an effect already imposed rather than a fresh projectile to deflect.
That utility is matchup-specific. It does not make Asta immune to every threat, especially attacks or dangers that are not magic, and it is not interchangeable with a straightforward sword strike.

5. Demon-Dweller Sword: ranged Anti-Magic slash
The Demon-Dweller Sword gives Asta an option beyond close-range swordplay: he can send a slash outward, extending Anti-Magic’s threat to a target he cannot immediately reach. Range adds flexibility and can disrupt an opponent who expects him to approach first.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
A ranged slash is still an attack that must connect, and its usefulness depends on the situation. It does not provide the same persistent coverage as Devil Union or the specialized effect of Causality Break.
6. Demon-Slasher Katana: selective cutting
Asta’s katana offers a more controlled approach to cutting through magic, allowing him to direct his Anti-Magic toward a chosen target rather than treating every nearby effect as something to erase. That selectivity is valuable in a crowded fight, where indiscriminate disruption could be a liability.
Its placement reflects narrower application, not lack of power: a precise answer can be stronger than a broad one when allies or multiple effects are involved. The technique still depends on Asta’s judgment and ability to reach the target.

How to read the ranking
The top position goes to the ability that most changes Asta’s overall combat options; the remaining placements balance striking potential, reach, specialized utility, and practical constraints. A different list focused only on raw cutting force, range, or a particular opponent could order these abilities differently. The official character profile and synopsis establish Asta’s Anti-Magic premise, but they do not publish a comparative power scale.
Where to read the manga
