Cyrus recalled feeling chemistry during the few scenes they shared: “We did very few scenes together, but the couple times we were in the same scene, there was a chemistry there.” He also said they did not speak for roughly two years after filming. CNA Lifestyle reported his account in April 2025.
The text that brought them back in touch
Us Weekly dates Hurley’s message to 2024. Cyrus said she reached out while he was going through a difficult period and that he initially did not recognize the number. He recalled the moment this way: “And in this moment, a friend reached out.” That is Cyrus’s description of their reconnection, not independent confirmation of the private circumstances around it.

The timing was after Cyrus had recently divorced Australian singer Firerose. The Los Angeles Times reported that he filed for divorce in June 2024 and that the divorce was settled two months later. That context dates the period, but does not establish why the relationship developed. The Times covered the timing of their public debut in April 2025.
When they went public
In April 2025, Hurley and Cyrus shared an Easter-themed photo together on Instagram. The Los Angeles Times reported on April 21 that they had made the relationship public on the platform. This is the clearest public milestone in the available timeline; it does not establish when they privately began dating.
