What happened on the episode?
The show’s official release describes Eichner and Macfarlane stopping by to chat and play “Never Have I Ever with a twist.” It dates the appearance to Friday, September 30, 2022. The episode also featured Bros co-producer Guy Branum at the Drew’s News desk.
What did they recall about their audition?
Drew Barrymore asked Macfarlane if his first words to Eichner had been, “You look angry?” Macfarlane confirmed it, explaining that it was the first line Aaron says to Bobby in their audition scene. Eichner recalled answering, “I hear you’re boring,” another line from the scene. The anecdote is about the characters’ dialogue in the audition, not a report about the actors’ real-life opinions of each other.
What did Macfarlane share during Never Have I Ever?
The official excerpts include two of Macfarlane’s answers. He said he once accidentally sent a progress photo meant for his trainer to his best friend. He also recalled seeing Chippendale dancers on Donahue as a child and wanting to be a stripper. These remarks belong to a playful game segment; they do not provide a broad account of his dating history or private life.
Why were the actors appearing together?
Eichner and Macfarlane starred in Bros, a romantic comedy. In a September 22, 2022 interview and article, KCRW describes Eichner’s character Bobby as a podcaster and curator of an LGBTQ+ history museum, and Macfarlane’s character Aaron as a lawyer Bobby meets at a nightclub. That film context explains their joint appearance; the Drew Barrymore segment itself is an entertainment chat and game, not a relationship-advice interview.

The title’s reference to dating and crushes should not be read as evidence that the episode offers an in-depth discussion of either actor’s dating life. The available official excerpts document the audition exchange and game anecdotes, but they are not a full transcript and do not establish a comprehensive dating history. A separate Homo Sapiens episode published November 2, 2022, discusses dating disasters and relationship advice; it is a different program and should not be confused with this appearance.
