Who won 2024 Grammy Song of the Year?

The Recording Academy named Billie Eilish O’Connell and Finneas O’Connell as the writers of “What Was I Made For? [From The Motion Picture ‘Barbie’],” the 2024 Song of the Year winner. The award recognizes songwriting achievement for a song comprising music and lyrics, rather than honoring only the performer.

Eilish’s fellow nominees were “A&W,” “Anti-Hero,” “Butterfly,” “Dance the Night,” “Flowers,” “Kill Bill,” and “Vampire.” The Academy’s 2024 category record lists the nominees and identifies the two credited songwriters.

What Song of the Year recognizes

Song of the Year and Record of the Year are separate Grammy categories. Song of the Year is a songwriter’s award; Record of the Year recognizes a recording and credits artists and recording contributors. The Recording Academy’s 2024 category record and full winners list show the distinction in their category descriptions and credits.
