Tucker Des Lauriers said he revealed his relationship with Rubina on Big Brother 26 because hiding it had become mentally straining. He hoped the reveal would let them be themselves, he explained after his eviction, and apologized that Rubina became sad.
Why did Tucker reveal his relationship with Rubina?
In a post-eviction interview with Parade, Tucker said keeping the relationship secret inside the house had become difficult. “But it was also very hard to keep that secret going. There’s a lot of mental strain that goes on in there,” he said.
He described the reveal as a way to ease that pressure and allow the pair to be themselves. The moment was connected to the season’s AI Instigator twist, which let Tucker disclose the showmance anonymously. The interview question noted that Rubina reacted badly and that the disclosure also strained Tucker’s relationships with Leah and Makensy, who felt misled after he had described Rubina as like a sister.
What did Tucker say to Rubina afterward?
Tucker apologized for the effect the reveal had on her: “First of all, Rubina, I’m so sorry that you got sad during that. That was not my intentions whatsoever.” He said he had wanted the reveal “to ease our minds and to let us be us when we wanted.” Those are Tucker’s words in the Parade post-eviction interview.

What happened between Tucker and Rubina after the show?
Tucker was evicted on Day 45 of Big Brother 26 by a 5–3 vote, according to Parade’s interview listing; its search excerpt also reports that he and Rubina shared another kiss at his exit. That outcome came after their in-house showmance and the conflict around its disclosure.
In an interview published October 11, 2024, Rubina told TV Insider she was looking forward to seeing Tucker outside the house and possibly going on a date. After the finale, Tucker discussed watching Rubina play and what might lie ahead for them in an interview with Access, published October 15, 2024. These are dated comments about hopes at the time, not confirmation of the pair’s current relationship status.
