Joseph Rodriguez said his Big Brother 26 eviction was “a f—ing relief,” even as he praised Chelsie’s gameplay and criticized several housemates. In Entertainment Weekly’s September 6, 2024 exit interview, he also argued that the A.I. Arena ran too long and that the jury phase should have begun earlier.
Why was Joseph evicted from Big Brother 26?
Entertainment Weekly reported that Rodriguez lost to Rubina in the A.I. Arena and was then evicted 4–3 against Kimo on the September 5 episode, just before jury. Quinn, the Head of Household, nominated Rodriguez after Leah used the Veto on Angela. Entertainment Weekly’s report gives the episode context.
Parade’s contemporaneous recap adds that Rodriguez had been confident about his position. It reported that Angela voted to keep him, while Chelsie and Makensy voted him out. These are the publications’ accounts of the vote and events, not Rodriguez’s own explanation of every houseguest’s decision.
What did Joseph Rodriguez say about the Big Brother cast?
Asked how he felt the morning after leaving, Rodriguez told Entertainment Weekly: “I’ve been better. But it’s a f—ing relief dude. Most of those people in the house were super annoying, and to have been in the jury house with them for another month …” He was evicted before jury, so his reference to spending another month there described what he had avoided.

He respected Chelsie’s game, but not her as a housemate
Rodriguez called Chelsie the season’s strongest player: “Chelsie is playing the best game by far. She’s been the best player since day one, day two, and I knew it from the get go.” He separated that strategic respect from how he felt about living with her, describing her as mean and judgmental and saying she was not his favorite housemate. Those are his personal assessments, not an independent judgment of her character.
He named Leah and Quinn as possible people to root for
Despite Quinn’s role in his eviction, Rodriguez said he would probably root for Leah or Quinn. He also said he did not really care who won. His answer did not amount to a single, firm endorsement: he could recognize Chelsie as the best player while naming other people as the ones he might support.
Rank #2
His disagreement with Angela
Rodriguez said he thought Angela took their conversation the wrong way. He characterized her as delusional about the game and said he believed he had given her advice based on things he had told himself. This was his view of their disagreement, not a neutral account of Angela’s intentions.
What did Joseph say about the A.I. Arena?
Rodriguez thought the A.I. Arena was a good twist for viewers but said it lasted too long as a season format. He argued that the game should have had five evictions before forming a nine-person jury, and said he felt he had not been able to play “real Big Brother.” That was his critique of the format and his experience; he did not establish that the twist itself caused his eviction.

Why did the game feel harder than he expected?
Rodriguez said the daily grind, paranoia, claustrophobia and moral strain of deceiving people made the experience more difficult than he had anticipated. Even as a superfan who expected downtime and sleep deprivation, he said he wanted to quit for about two hours on Day 2. That is his account of a brief moment, not a claim that he left the game or sought to quit permanently.

Rodriguez’s remarks draw a clear line between evaluating strategy and evaluating personality: he could praise Chelsie’s play while disliking her as a housemate, and consider rooting for Quinn despite being evicted after Quinn nominated him. His comments offer one evicted contestant’s perspective on the cast and format, rather than a definitive verdict on either.
