Julie Chen Moonves called Tucker Des Lauriers’s challenge to Cedric Hodges’s game “so ballsy” after a pivotal Big Brother 26 veto decision in 2024. Tucker had used the Power of Veto to save Angela Murray, then confronted Cedric when Cedric nominated Makensy Manbeck as the replacement instead of Quinn Martin.
What Tucker did—and why he confronted Cedric
During the third week of Big Brother 26, Tucker used the Power of Veto to remove Angela from the block. Cedric, the Head of Household, responded by nominating Makensy instead of Quinn. Tucker then told Cedric he had been blindsided.
The accounts differed over what had been said beforehand: Cedric maintained that he had warned Tucker not to use the veto on Angela, while Tucker denied receiving that warning. The disagreement set up Tucker’s direct challenge to Cedric’s game. Yahoo’s recap describes the sequence.
Chen’s “so ballsy” reaction
Chen praised the boldness of Tucker openly challenging Cedric. The quote reported in the recap reads: “When Tucker openly declared war on Cedric’s game, that was so ballsy. Can I say that? Well I just did! Expect the unexpected. What can I tell you, Chenbot hails from Queens, #718, and I’m so old school, I was there when it was still 212!”
